So I was at work just doing the typical when a regular customer comes running yelling "Dude, your bike is on its side"  So I just go running outside thinking it was something I did and it fell.....well I was WRONG....It was freakin backed into, being pushed foward several feet and then hitting a wall...and then that thoughtfull person decided to run off (and of course the store does not have parking lot cameras)  Since it is a game store I have a feeling it was a showoff kid pulling fast into a parking spot and not paying attention (I dont park all the way up to the curb for a reason, I line my tail up with the car bumber next to me) that or a mexican without insurence (they seem popular around here...happened to me when I totaled my car b/c they decided to run a stop sign) and there is a mexican resturant next door to my store...either way and to sum it up....local cops are jerks who dont care b/c it was a hit and run and there is pretty much nothing I can do.  I will call insurance tomorrow and see what they can do but it is just A LOT of body damage and is going to be either really hard and or expensive to repair that is probably going to come out of my pocket....no offence to you naked gs riders...but I like my fairings.

ps. and to top it off, I was just about to paint my rear seat cover/cowling (if you have noticed my other post)

here are the lovely pics

PS...the bike seems to run fine so no "real" damage...but it WAS is great condition but now I cant get over all the scratches...(I would have to big of a problem repainting it myself except my tank wasnt touched so I dont want to repaint that and matching that paint would be very expensive on my part so anybody have any sugggestions on fixing.  Like I said I am going to call my insurance company tomorrow and maybe talk to the suzuki dealership (my dad is friends with more than half of the mechanics and several of the big guys) and local body shops.

Is it me, or do you have more than 1" chicken strips?  hehe

I shouldn't say anything tho...  Took me a year to get down to 1/2" myself.

  true Tad....The damage is fixable but just a huge pain that could have been avoided....I am just bummed and needed to vent....plus the day started out horrible as well.  My brother in law, I think that is correct, (my sisters hudband's brother) died last night so I found out that this morrning.  I wasnt real close to him but it is the first time someone "close" to me has died so that started out stressfull and I see what it does to my sister (b/c she know it is eating up her husband) and it just makes the situation worse...so all in all......one of the worst days of my life.

What are chicken strips? The weights on the handle bars? If so those are what they came with (and the bike is only 3 months new to me) but do you have a different suggestion seeing how I have to replace them anyways!?!?!

If you're claiming insurance ... keep your trap shut about any prior damage. Heck, take it to a shop and heve them estimate it there, while you stay away from the estimater ... its not a lie if you dont tell him nothing ... and he assumes crap ... cos I shou;d've kept my big mouth shut ... cos ...
From my back into incident ... I just checked over the insurance thing and I realised I got shafted ... no ... the bike is still chain drive ...  O0  but I told the guy that the tank had a previous dent where the seat goes on, and it got 2 added ones up in front in the back into incident. They are small but they are new ... and I just saw ... no damage $$ for tank. I called the guy and he mumbled somehting about prior damage and how it was already needing paint ... what ever. I am glad I guess I got some $$ ...
Cool.

Chicken strips are the unused portions of your tire (rear only I think).  These can be located on the sides of the tire.  These indicate how much you've leaned in corners.

I don't recommend TRYING to remove them by riding harder...  Learn and "perfect" your technique first.

thanks for the pics... I always wondered what a gs looked like when some stupid person decides to back into it

oh and about this:

QuoteI have a feeling it was a showoff kid pulling fast into a parking spot and not paying attention... or a mexican without insurence... and there is a mexican resturant next door to my store

I always find those comments really amusing (^_^) and they are posted in many forums way too many times to keep count.
after all, i'm a legal mexican alien with insurance (but most people wouldn't know that just by my looks, right?)
Caturday yet?

Man that sucks. Mine was knocked over 2 weeks ago, but at least the guy had the decency to leave a note (plus one of my staff mates saw it happen and got his rego :)

At least there is one positive (even if only one) from this... you no longer have to try to cleanup that exhaust  ;)

Dude, no biggie.  Keep an eye on Ebay and you can get a new right fairing and nose piece from an 04 decently cheap.  I actually just sold a side fairing and nose plastic to a guy who had the same thing happen.  It was off of my 05, in perfect shape with all of the stickers and I sold it all to him for $160.  You can find the stuff even cheaper on Ebay, you just have to keep an eye out and it might take a while.

Sorry to hear about your bad luck.  Things will turn around for ya!

That sucks man, and I'm sorry to hear it. But if you want to repaint yourself, and match the stock colors, you can go to colorrite.com and buy all the stock colors in spraycans. If you do a search on the forum, you can find the rite color codes for everything you need.

Hang out there, we may flame, but we don't hate.

My attitude is in serious need of readjustment, and I'm ok with that.
