This is my next cage for sure!

Its a Lotus Elise, its curb weight=1,984 lbs., stock 190 HP, 0 to 60 in 4.7 seconds, top speed 150 mph. It got a hybrid of the same 1.8 liter that's in my Toyota matrix so I know in will run for a long time! I've already driven one, and just so you know they handle and drift like a dream come true!

Lotuses are freakin' awesome.  Amazing cars.  Tell me you're giong for British racing green?  Or yellow? ;)  We had a Lotus join us on our last Mustang cruise, and some guy in an sti wanted to play with him on the freeway.  The Lotus walked the guy as if he were parked.
I'm thinking silver metallic that what my Matrix is now. Silver gives the Lotus that classic 60's sports car look, and it and always looks clean even when its not. But my second choice would be the green!

Is that the light silver, or the darker color (charcoal metallic?)  We've got a charcoal one in town, and it kinda takes away some of the pizzazz of having a Lotus.  I think I've seen a silver one around--looks good.
The Skyline is a bit too "Fast and the Furious" for my taste.  Rice-y.
The light silver.
Being naked was great, but now that I'm older I thought I should cover up!!!!

Mods?  What mods, no really its stock!!

A good drifter should be rear wheel drive (or maybe all wheel drive) and have a 50/50 weight distribution. The Nissan 240SX is a great platform because it is a cheap rear wheel car that is very very well balanced.  The downside with it is it doesn't have limited slip so you'll only be able to spin one wheel and it is a little underpowered so drifting lousy in the dry, OK in the wet, but great in the snow.  You can go a buy a limited slip rear end and axles from a Silvia in Japan to fix the one-wheel-peel problem and turbo the stock KA24DE engine or drop in a SR20DET engine to fix that power problem.

A better option would be a BMW 325is or an M3.  Both have limited slip and a bit more power and are also very well balanced.

I've been wondering about the new Poniac Solstice as its specs make it appear to have the makings for a good drifter, but I've never seen one drifted before.

Front wheel drive cars suck as drifters because your only option is to use the ebrake, and unless you're in the snow it's pointless.  One thing that you can do is drive the rear wheels onto lunch trays and lock up the ebrake.  You can then light up the fronts and it will drift a lot like a RWD car until the trays melt through.

AWD cars are cool.  The STI does alright, it has enough power to light up all for wheels and whip around pretty nicely.  My A4 with only 200bhp, drifted very nicely in the snow, and with a little work in the wet.  Now with 300+bhp drifting it is cake.

I use to have an AWD 91' Eagle Talon many moons ago when I lived in WI, I had narrow snow tires for the winter season and found it very hard to drift in the snow with out using the parking break, it would always go wherever the front wheels were pointed. Man I miss that car, I got t-boned by a Suburban that blew threw a red light, worst day of my life, I was alright, but the car was scrap metal.

We should be careful to get out of an experience only the wisdom that is in it - and stop there; lest we be like the cat that sits down on a hot stove lid. She will never sit on a hot stove lid again - and that is well; but also she will never sit down on a cold one anymore. ~Mark Twain~
