Am I in trouble?

Have a GS purchased in Oct. of 2005.  Only put 200mi on it before Winter set in.  Too much fun to ride as Spring finally arrived.  Anyway, now have 1300mi on it but have not had the valves checked/adjusted.  It seems to ride just fine but am I on borrowed time vs disaster?  I watched Kerry's video but will probably let the dealer do it.  Can request just the valves?  I know how to do all the other maintenance on it.
Have 2 bikes and 1 scooter (125cc).  Other bike is Kawasaki Ninja 250, as well as the Suzuki GS500.  Recently sold the Ninja.  Added the checkerboard decals to the GS.  They are reflective 3M decals.

Thanks for the replies so far.  I had a Ninja 250 and that's all they talk about on their site...valves, valves, and more valves.  Finally had them inspected and adjusted at 1200mi vs the recommended 600 and the specs were hardly any different and bike rode the same before and after.  Anyway that was the little Ninja (sold couple of months ago).

14,000 and they were still in spec.  how ever, i did (in my blindness) ajusted them out of spec. so after changeing back to the stock stuff, i got them a little closer to what i wanted, about .05-.04. (MM not SAE like i did)

if you should at least check them. i would say at 6k and then again at 12. at 12k i would have the valve kit form the coast side your on (has every thing you need) and check them, and ajust if nessary.

as lot as it's with in .03-.08 your fine if smaller .03- down just be sure the shim can turn (round and round with out draging) if its loose .08 larger it will be nosiy (taping or slaping noise when idleing down) i seem to have a little but i think its the oil grade i am useing or that is super f***ing hot here in sc.

Are you missing an extra`0` from your figures? 600 miles is nothing, I have done more than that in a week and I am sure others have too.

Ive got about 42k on mile
Still runs like a top, but i have no idea when the last time the valves were checked or adjusted

My GS has about 7500 miles, and I've never done a valve check since I got it at 1500 miles.

I rode to a place to ask about prices.  The guy asked me to turn on the GS and he revved the engine.  Then he shut it off and said, "Save you money."

Hehe.  Naw.  He told me about the times he's opened up the valve cover to check, and they've aways been ok on the GS.

yep 30000 miles, it doesn't make any excessive valve noise doesnt burn oil, revs smoothly, chews the gas though(but thats because of my rejet)
i sapose ill get around to it one day.. mabee when i do my first cam chain :icon_mrgreen:
i always do regular engine flushes and oil and filter changes.. but thats it
checking it can't be a bad thing though, if your feeling like its making more noise than normal, then do it :icon_mrgreen:

I had check my valves at about 3000 miles on my 05' and they were perfect, I'm now at 6400 miles and probably won't check them until 8000,  unless your engine is not running right or sounds off I don't think you have anything to worry about for some miles to go.
Being naked was great, but now that I'm older I thought I should cover up!!!!

Mods?  What mods, no really its stock!!

hmmmnz

nah it shouldnt make a noise as the auto adjuster will take up the slack to a certain point. it'll probly just break on me and ill have no warning. but engines are plentiful and cheap over here, to be honest it would be quicker and probly cheaper to buy a replacement engine than replace the timing chain.
