Okay... The once in a lifetime deal. A guy I work with that doesn't ride is separating from his wife and she drained his bank account and took off for a week while his car was in the shop. He wins a raffle ticket and gets the grand prize.... 2006 XL883 Sportster and can't come up with the taxes to get it out of the dealer...

I bought it off him for $4000 out the door and rode it home from dealer!

I took some photos but when I try to load them into photobucket I keep getting "page cannot be found" while the photo is loading!

It came as the base solo model but I added the badlander seat, rear pegs, dragbars and of course the cool skull logo gas cap. I swear... I'm not really a harley guy and I'm not sure how I ended up with two of them! Hell, I'm the one guy in this world with two harleys and not one single harley tee shirt!

I had the similar problem with photobucket.

Here's what I did to fix it:

I use Kodak Easyshare Software.  The problem you're having is because the photos are too big, I'd guess.  What you want to do is go into your Easyshare (or  similar) program and Edit Photo.   Then when you Save As. . . you can resize the photos.  Resize them as "Best for Internet", click Accept, and save them.  Now they'll be small enough for photobucket up upload.

Nice bike BTW.  Forget a Harley shirt.  You  need a pirate uniform!

Is that Ed_in_Az music I hear in the background?  Ha ha!

It's a '91 1100.... With some serious motor mods! The engine was built by Joe Marasco, he's a bit of a legend in Suzuki drag racing. He does some sweet busa builds these days but this one was built by him a few years ago. I picked that one up about two weeks after me and the GS got rear-ended. It's a sweet ride, more power than anyone needs and quite managable and comfy too.

The teal one was an ebay steal, I bought it on a nice day while the gixxer was having some work done. The gixxer was having the carbs replaced and the forks rebuilt along with a few other things. I had some extra cash and wanted to ride during the two and half weeks the gixxer was in the shop. I picked it up for about $1500 less than they usually sell for around here and figured I would eventually sell it for a profit. Just never got around to doing that. One thing I've noticed with the harleys... Chick dig harleys... not sure why but they get a lot of attention.

Youv'e all said you hate Harleys, except Yama. Suddenly they're Ok? What's up with that?

I'm waiting for 1200 upgrade parts for mine right now. They shipped yesterday. :icon_mrgreen:

Some new cylinders are on the way bored to 1200cc, with 9.5:1 Wiseco pistons, and HD SE .497 cams. Based on similar configuration this should yield approximate 50% torque increase and 30% horsepower increase. :thumb:

I've already upgraded to Progressive suspension front and rear on it.

I've never really been a big fan of them, my dad however has been bugging me for over a decade to buy one... He's a fatboy guy. I will admit to always wanting one of the F series road kings.. It's like the streetfighter version of the electra glide.

I guess keeping an open mind to all forms of motorcycling is a good thing. Hell, a couple weeks ago I bought my girlfriend a 50cc scooter to get her started. Now I've been looking at some of those imported 150 and 250cc scooters thinking... hmm... Jetting, new trans bushing, clip the rev limiter, maybe some chrome...

I was thinking I would go with the progressive stuff on the new harley, the XL883L parts are way over priced. The 90 XL I have already came with the 11" shocks in the rear and 1.5" drop in the front. The forks were also slipped about an inch up the tripples on top of that. Nice and low... open dragpipes... Loud and rough...  The old one also has some of the screamin eagle stuff too... With the dragpipes it seems to make a hell of a lot more power than the new one.

Compared to the old one... The new one is tall, quiet, smooth, and reliable... Kind of like my fridge.

Hey Ed... Check this out... and 88" kit for an evo.. http://www.steelthundercc.com/sportster_engine.html

Fettcols, nice link there. Thanks. I bookmarked it. :thumb:

My stuff is costing a little less than $800, with me doing the labor. I'm going with 9.5:1 pistons to still allow for using lower octane if needed.

I had a GS500 as my only "Sport" type bike. My '05 883 Sportster is just a more comfortable ride for me, especially 2 up. I've got forward controls, but I've kept the suspension tall to still allow for more lean, quicker cornering and smoother ride. Now with the extra power I think I'll be set. :icon_mrgreen:

2up?   My girlfriend hates that badlander seat... She's got a small little butt and doesn't like the little rear section on the badlander. She wants me to get one of those big old pillow jobs... I keep telling her the more she rides it the softer it will get... lol

The gs was my first sport bike too... Unless you count the KZ750 as a sportbike. But I have to tell everyone... that gsxr 1100 is the real deal... That's a real sportbike and it actually has manners. I'm riding up to mansfield 2up next week for the AMA- Honda supercycle weekend races and taking the gixxer...
