I know the exchange rate makes the gas prices in England look bad but I have to ask.  Whats the average cost of living and average income?

Living in Ga. is pretty cheap but then the wages here are not the best.  My cousin that lives in NYC makes more than I do but has to pay more for rent and other living expenses.  I actually come out a little ahead of him even tho he makes more than I do.

A few weeks back I was riding down Rodeo Dr. in Hollywood area of LA, and it was 4.19/gal for full service.  4.15/gal for 87 octane.

IIRC the reason petrol prices are so high in europe and other places is because the taxes on petrol pay for the roads.  In the US, the roads are mostly paid for by other tax dollars, like income tax, and then a little from gas taxes and tolls, depending on the road

Thats correct, a huge percentage of the the cost of petrol here in the UK is taken in tax by the the government. In addition each year we have to pay excise duty (road tax), currently its £42 a year for bikes up to 600cc. Using the bike on the road without paying this tax is illegal.

Gas tax SHOULD pay for road work...  If you don't drive, you should have to pay for roads...  If you drive an H2, you should have to pay more.

I also think auto licenses should be based on vehicle weight; the heavier the truck, the more they screw up the roads.

BTW, I also bought about 100 shares on the OTCBB of a company called Geotech Thermal.  Then answer to all our prayers.  Check it out!!!  I got it about 6 years ago for $.05 a share, but it is a really cool company.  Bound to pay off one day.  When I am super wealthy, don't mind if I say I told you so.
