Help in So Cal?...

Not sure if this is the approapriate place for this, but...

I had a crash a few months ago.  I bought the parts I think I need to repair it (front fork replacement), but I have no idea how to go about repairing.  The Clymer book may as well be in Chinese for the good it does me.

So, does anyone have a recommendation for how I should go about fixing it?  Know anyone who can help out?  Or know of some place I can get it towed to who'll do the fixing? 

I actually have the tools and am willing to learn, but it just seems to me that I'm in over my head here.

I'm real close to Del Amo Motorsports, if that helps....

Does anyone even know of a good shop I can get it towed to?  Or of anyone that does house calls?  Difficult to move in the state it's in...

Seriously though, he only has 18 posts to search through, and usually it's in the first two posts (last page of results), where everybody posts in the "Who are you and where are you located" thread stickied at the top of the General page.

Well... Redondo beach isn't very far from me.... however I work weekends, and usually try to ride the days I have off.


What exactly is your "pinch point"?  Where are you hung up on starting your project?  I've always found that a few encouraging words to get a project started is enough of a confidence boost to get those wrenches turning.

Maybe I can try to walk you through it step by step.

That was taken from another forum.  And I've heard him reccomended several times and always positive.  Its a private shop, rather than a dealership, so the labor rates might be more reasonable.

Yeah, I'm a total newbie.  I have a hard time getting going in established forums, especially when I know so little about the subject matter and feel intimidated with being so new.  It seems that any time someone new posts here, the response is a link to a pre-existing thread that's already been over the subject matter.  Sorry for the rant.

My main hangup is that I don't understand mechanics at all.  Big hangup in this instance, I know.

Maybe I'll take that guy some pictures and see what he says.  But it is a huge pain to move right now and that is quite a ways to get it towed.  But thanks for the recommendation.

I've heard it's such an easy operation that it really seems silly to go that distance to get it done.  Though at this point it's looking like it's the only way I'll get it back on the road...
