So yesterday afternoon it was insanely hot here in Houston. Middle of the afternoon, no clouds in the sky 95F plus the normal Houston humidity over 50%. Naturally I was debating whether or not I even get on the bike. For a second I considered going without the jacket, but I reminded myself how much it would suck to lose a bunch of skin because it was hot oustside. Finally I decide to try soaking my shirt in water. It's one of those Under Armor polyester shirts. Best thing ever! Soaked it in water, threw the mesh jacket on top. It was absolutely perfect in the sun with the breeze going through the jacket. 20-30 mins of very cool riding.

Wet T-Shirts are totally sweeeet for two reasons...  And that's one of 'em.

Hmm, that's a good idea. Although I think people would look at me strangely if I showed up to work soaking wet. I'd look like I sweated buckets worth. Yuck.

Yeah, that's why I haven't used my Sahara.  I haven't gone for a real ride in a while, and I couldn't show up to work soaked.

If you have a mesh jacket you can wet the outside, that way it will act as a radiator and  you won't be soaking wet.    a must in Texas.

These are good suggestions, does it work with a regular vented textile (non-mesh) jacket?  This week has certainly been hellish.

The weather's pretty nice on my way to work at 7am, the problem is the trip home in the afternoon. I think it would be pretty great to see people's faces as I walk out of an office bathroom with a t-shirt soaked in water. I'll let someone else try that one out though.

Yeah, weather at the morning commute is usually really nice.

When it's warm out, I just take my workshirt off before getting on the bike to stay a little bit cooler(I almost always wear an undershirt).  I have covered myselft in water a few times for the added A/C effect, it works pretty well.  You could just bring a water bottle with you and douse yourself before hop on the bike.

The string of 100*F days we had around here were days I opted to ride the bus, as it's pretty convenient for me, even though I hate the idea of riding the bus.

My hours are weird, so I START working in the heat of the afternoon. and come home when it's nice out (midnight or so). This might be a good idea for sport rides around the hill country though.
