See the second picture for more detail on California model hoses.  There's a link at the bottom to the hose routing page from Kerry's site, as well.

ok.. so i can get the bike started, but when i throttle it up, it dies right away, what seems to be the cause of this?

idles at 1200 i'm thinking its the vacume hoses, but cant figure out where they go, i need a vacume hose diagram of some sort. and also i just put the skinnier jets in that srinath mailed me, and i've seen these fatter screws that go into the carb as well he said something about those are for air or something   and some ppl drill them out, but i'm not sure if that could be the problem, but i need a vacume hose diagram

as for the hose routing, the only one that is right is the one Markus posted.  The '04+ is different from the previous years in that it has some sort of electronic emissions control system and has 3125698780 more ft of vacuum hose.

I'm not sure exactly what hoses you're talking about, but there should be a hose connected to the white nipple on each carb, which come together at a T, and then goes to the electronic solenoid valve mounted on the bottom of the right carb.  The rest of it is pretty clear in the diagram, except for that one hose that goes off in the distance (77).  That goes to the frame mounted petcock I believe.

ok, so the 2 hoses that come from the solenoid on the bottom of the right carb, one is on the right carb (white nipple on top of carb) and the other is on the left carb.  but there is a black cylinder thing mounted ahead of the carbs on the right side on a bar and it has a thing hose that has a purple stripe, and there is also a thin hose with  a purple stripe that comes from the frame mounted pet chicken, where do those 2 hoses need to go?

LimaXray

Look at the diagram MarkusN posted a few replys back... the canister is part 74, the vacuum hose that goes to the petcock is the hose labeled 73-76...

ok, a hose comes off the other nipple of the solenoid (47) and goes to another T, one side of the T goes to that canister, while the other side of that T goes to a check valve (46) and then to yet another T.  One side of that T goes to the vacuum port on the side of the left carb, while the other side of the T goes to the petcock.

well i guess i'm going to have to pay a butt load of money to get something this dumb to fix.. cuz i cant figure it out.

LimaXray

look at this diagram:

What are you not understanding?  Look at the parts labeled with the numbers I gave you in my previous posts.  Do you see how their assembled in the picture?  You want to make them like that on your bike.  If you're really having that much trouble, then maybe you should have someone look at it just to be safe.

should there be just one hose running down to the electronic thing on the bottom of the right carb?  cause i have 2 running off there, and where should they go?

LimaXray

there are 2 hoses that come off of it

Here's One hose:

Here's the other:

That part is not very clear in the diagram, but the hose labeled 43 is the hose that goes to the other nipple on the solenoid.
