What's the deal with 2006s?

Man.  I feel bad for everyone on one.  We all talk about bulletproof, run-forever bikes, and everyone with an '06 is running into crazy leaks, and dealerships accusing them of thrashing the bike.

Sorry, guys.   :dunno_white:

Deathlucky?
Going off what you have said in previous threads....YOU HAVE thrashed hell out of it!!

Its still under warrenty and its an 06. It shouldn't be running into any problems just yet. Unless its been sat in the redline everywhere it goes never leaving it i doubt he could have broken it. Plus they should fix it.

I've got an 06... the only thing is a fork seal, which the dealership looked at and went "yea, no problem"... parts will be here in a few days, and we'll schedule you some shop time.

ring suzuki australia, and tell them about it, if the dealership are being wankers go over there head, or threaten them with the motoring ombudsman,
that usually gets there arses moving, if still nothing is moving, post messages on all australian motorcycling sites about there unhelpfulness, then send them an email with links to all the pages and tell them you'll remove them if your bike is fixed,
keep harrasing them, you didnt spend all that money on a bike that was falling apart after 16000 kms, to nothave it fixed, especially while its under warranty

Ok, I'm getting nervous now.  Our new '06 is being delivered tomorrow and I've already ticked off the local stlealership by not buying it from them.  Hope they aren't lemons.

Hey deathlucky you really need to call suzuki corp in Aus and tell them whats going on.  Your bike is still under warranty so it should be fixed doesn't matter how it was ridden.  I didn't see a clause in my warranty that said you must ride  the bike like an old lady drives.

icius doest matter where you bought the bike from if the local dealer didn't want to give you a better offer then it's their fault for looseing a sale.  They will still work on it but if they were going to rip you off on the bike, I don't think their service charges are going to be cheap.  Might be better to find a dealer that you like or maybe an independant motorcycle shop.  Or learn to do the work yourself.

yeah if my dealer did that crap to me i would def call suzuki corp.  I had to do that once with a Saturn that I had.  There was a recall and the dealership denied that it was a safety recall and tried to charge me for the repairs.  I wrote a check, called Saturn Corp, and told them about my experience.  I then walked back into the dealer and handed my cell phone to the manager and told him that saturn corp was on the phone for him.  He looked ticked and i was happy as a clam.  I got a free tune up, and oil changes for a year and my check back.  Then i found a new and more reliable dealer

The warranty on any new bike is subject to `Correct usage` and `Fair wear and Tear` clauses, read the small print. If they suspect you have damaged it by not following the manufactures guidlines as stated in the handbook with regard to running-in, basic checks, maintenance and general use etc they are within their right not to except any liability on their behalf regardless of any warranty terms. From a legal aspect and if the dispute went to court Its up to you as the buyer to prove the problem has resulted due to negligence on Suzukis behalf not the other way round. Put it another way, if your bike was in warranty and you put Diesel in it by mistake or didnt keep the oil topped up and the engine siezed would you expect Suzuki to pay for the repairs?

JakeD may correct me, but in the US, you simply have to establish a prima facie case of breach of warranty.  Once you've done that, the burden of proof shifts to the warrantor to show that abuse caused the problem.

In Australia, YMMV.

Edit: this may apply to your oil leak, but from your description, it is very likely that they can show that your behavior caused the mystery vibration.

Hang out there, we may flame, but we don't hate.

My attitude is in serious need of readjustment, and I'm ok with that.

The link will take you to a copy of the terms of the Suzuki motorcyle warranty, pages 5 and 6 list the exclusions. Looks to me that they are quite within their right to refuse to accept any liability on their behalf. Bear in mind Suzuki must deal with hundreds of warranty issues each year and they WILL KNOW exactly what they can and cant get away with.
