Which is better? The uni drop in or the K&N replace

I have the uni right now.  If the K&N will make an improvment I will order one.  What do you guys think?

UNI is cleaner. The K&N in the airbox is much dirtier and dont do anything great for perf. Pod K&N's are much better for performance and as dirty as the airbox K&N so better choice IMHO. BTW never tried K&N in airbox myself for any length of time but have jetted it on a friends bike and it used just 1 size bigger mains than the UNI and that tells me the flow isn't much more. UNI pods flow as much as the K&N pods almost and are much cleaner. However left out in the open they dont hold up as well as K&N's do.

But... the Uni pods can sometimes be had for 1/2 - 1/3 the price of the K&N's, so you can just pop new ones in when they corrode.  They do make working with the carbs, etc a very oily proposition.

.............It only has the 3in dia opening.  The opening is at a low pressure point on the bike.  The K&N is totally exposed to the air flow around the bike.

I have both a UNI drop in filter and a K&N drop in filter.  I got the Uni first, oiled it up, and wasn't thrilled with it.  When my K&N came in I started using it with the restrictor, and it's still in the bike.

HOWEVER.  When my brother came for a visit last year I showed him the Uni and in his opinion I had applied TOO MUCH filter oil.  So I'll have to try it again someday on my second bike.
