I had a rusted tank.  I got the POR 15 kit for m.c. tanks.  It strips and relines the tank.  * ImPoRtAnT *  This is not fun!!!.  I had to do it twice as the first time I used the shitty white ( Kreem ) kit that they sell in every m.c. shop.  Dont use it.  Getting that lining out took 4 days and 3 gallons of acetone.

If you just want to clean debrise out, remove the tank, drain it and remove the hardware.  With the openings covered ( the petcock first and the gas pump inlet after the acetone is added), then put a small amount of acetone in it to swish around Then drain through the bottom.  The acetone will evaporate but you need to get as much out as possible. You can use degreaser/water mix first but i should think this would only be necessary for a very dirty tank or one that need to be rust stripped. Draining is difficult due to the placement of the petcock holes relative to the countours of the tank bottom. Replace the hardware and put the tank back on the bike. :thumb:
