Hey guys, I'm thinking about buying a pair os progressive springs for my '97, but there's a problem here.

I'll probably buy these springs overseas, since here in Brazil I just can't find where to buy them.

1- Does anybody know where to find the specs for these progressive springs? I can buy them by sending a project to a spring manufacter, I know springs stores, they can do whatever I want, they just don't have the GS500's progressive springs on shelf nor know how it's designed. I'd need the spring dimensions and the K factor (which I don't know how is shown, since it's not constant, it's probably a function of compression).

2- I also can (and this would probably be cheaper) just buy from the US or UK and get it shipped here. But there's another problem, here the adjustable pre load for the front forks were made until 2001, and I don't know if the american springs made originaly for forks w/ no preload adjustement would fit properly on my forks.

I changed for a heavier oil but its still sinking too much (with end of course, usually) when hard braking or riding bad roads.

tks for any help!

Buy a set of UK spec springs for a 97, all our GSEs had pre-load adjustment so theory says they should fit yours.

Plenty of places sell them, this one is top of the google list......

Go over to Racers Corner here; there's discussions on the ideal spring rate and preload for these bikes. You could have a custom set built from that info based on your weight and riding preference.

For a 180 lb rider and over, typically something like 90 (kN/mm)? Someone can correct my dimensions. No idea what stock is either.

Not sure on preload amount, but that's easy to change and/or calculate if you know what the desired static displacement is.
