My kick-stand pad is red... and it says Honda.  Maybe that's why I never use it  :icon_mrgreen:
But I'm sure it'll be reliable and last me a life time - best of all, it's FREE.

Why would I spend money on something that's available on the side of a freeway (not that I'd be looking on the side of a freeway)?  A simple slab of wood; a splinter, 1/2" wide would suffice.

I've never been in this situation...  But, if I was I'd find a can or something similar to jam under there. :dunno_white:

I usually park my GS on concrete...  And it's usually no more than 90° out...  And the one time I parked on asphalt when it was over 90°, I parked in a shaded spot under a tree. :thumb:

Use your license plate; or the license plate of the HD dude next to you   That's what the tool kit is for. (Alternative there's the engine cover, borken fairing etc...) Binder and textbook works too for the school boy. Palm pilot or pocket pc are great too... although the Motorola Razor's got them beat.  :icon_lol:

i have seen harley heads put the phoney little black helmet under there kickstand.
every day above ground is a good day.

Carry a beer can with you (full) & when you pull up you have to skull the beer & crush the can before your bike falls over  O0

Just carry a scrap of wood with you & use that.

As we speak the virago is sitting on grass - wet wet wet grass on a stomped beer can. But the GS will be out fitted with a round steel plate welded to it - make sure you move it forward so the damn thing wont clobber the chain when you hit a bump.
Cool.

I took the old license plate from the previous owner, and folded it in half.  That's my kickstand pad. :)

umm they actually sell that crap?

just a 2"x3"x.75" wide piece of Azek.
A piece of wood.... or ANYTHING will work fine.
I got Azek from my work, shaved down the corners & it doesnt deteriorate or poke me :thumb:

it fits in my pocket just fine too (when I actually bother to bring it)

I've got a GSX-R rear shock that raised the rear some. so basically the bike leans more weight than normal onto the kickstand and the bottom plate of the kickstand no longer rests completly flat against the ground; It's kind-of pointed down slightly. theoretically this is a problem (or worse... or something). but it's not.

only on very few occasions have I noticed that I actually needed the piece of Azek. When I parked my bike next to a building where the ground was back-filled under the pavement (mostly sand under there). and when it was 100+ degrees out.

I think if you put too much effort into this or actually go BUY one... you've got issues.  ;)

I didn't used to put anything, thought the GS wasn't heavy enough to cause a problem, until I changed jobs at work.  I came out of the new building and my bike is leaning at a wierd angle and there is a huge hole in the asphalt...oops.  At least it didn't fall over.  Now I'm using a piece of 1/4" OSB.
GS500F in BLUE because that's the COOLEST color!

The Antibody

I have a little red Dodge foot. It was free, and it easy to carry in my pocket.

dgyver

I usually carry a 4x4 piece of stainless steel.

I never used the center stand on hot asphalt after seeing a bike tip over when the right foot sunk in as the left side was partial supported by the foot pedal. The triangle it forms is very narrow and not very stable if uneven.
Common sense in not very common.

I use the thingy from the dealer, got it free with my bike  :icon_mrgreen:
