My friend and roommate recently bought an 8MP digital SLR made by Canon. He is still learning, so he and I decided to go out and try to get him some practical experience. Plus, I needed a few good shots of my bike.

Gearing up:

We started off by going to the capital building. The trooper gaurding the entrance wouldn't let any vehicles through, as it was against their policy. However, she did let us pull up on the sidewalk and get a few pictures.

It started getting dark shortly thereafter, so we were stuck with using long shutters for the rest of our pictures:

After the trooper told us we needed to leave we went to the top of a parking garage to get an overlook of downtown. Problem was, the hotel right next to this place cast a nasty green glow from their neon lights surrounding the building. I simply desaturated the bad part in this picture, but you'll see the tinge show up in others.

We got bored for a bit and took some pictures of my helmet:

We didn't have any plans as to what specifically was going to get pictures taken of, but I specifically requested the wheels and tires, as that's what I recently changed.

I figured some people would be interested in how the Pilot Powers looked, so I got a shot of the rear:

And a wider shot:

He tried his hand at an angled shot that he used on a lowrider for a magazine. Kinda looks MySpace-ish to me.

We went and did a few errands and picked up some friends after those, then went back to the parking garage, but went outside on the street corner instead. Traffic was slow, but the lights were bright and cast an orange glow onto everything.

For our last stop of the day, and since we were already on campus droping our friends off at their dorm we went to the Littlefield Fountain. Behind it is the UT Tower.

After a few pictures we noticed that the clouds looked freakin' sweet, so we did a few long shutters to try and get both the bike and the clouds in the same shot.

Re-angled:

And a wider shot (which will soon become my new desktop wallpaper)

If you want any of these pictures (or the rest in the set) in a larger size for desktop backgrounds or whatnot, let me know.

A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof, is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools....

Thanks to advances in automation, Nike shoes will be made by robots. Unfortunately, the robots will be made by children in Malaysia.

Man, I miss Austin.  I've walked past that fountain a thousand times and it never looked quite so magnificent.  I think it's time for a trip.

Ohh snap. Our bikes are actually starting to diverge a bit. A few things different, but the whole naked '05 thing is the key.

It required some photo effect to get it that good, and it wasn't even turned on! If you do come, let me know. We can grab some lunch and kick each others bike and show off the chrome. Or something.
