TO those with an ICON helmet

I've got the Mainframe. The noise factor is better than my modular helmet, but I was expecting that... There's less lines that the wind could hit.

Anyway, I don't really know too much about OTHER helmets. Is the ICON MAINFRAME on the quiet side of helmets?

What modular helmet did you have? I have the KBC modular and I know it's noisey compared to the full face helmets out there. But my wife's nolan modular helmet is very quite (sp?).

On the other hand the HJC CL-15 is pretty quite used my brother inlaw's. Don't know how they compare to Icons tho.

The modular I bought was from JCWhitney.com.

It's from WOMBAT TRADING. Very unknown. It was very hard to find their info to get some warranty work done. But I finally got it.

Best modular I have seen was from Suthbert ( spelling is wrong I know) has the tinted visor inside the helmet that slides down when you slide the switch, but the Nolan's really nice, quite, lightweight and accroding to my wife very comfortable. I know alot of people do not thing the mod's are very safe but I have highsided in mine and it held up fine. Just now getting around to replaceing it

IMHO, the Scorpion EXO-400 is a much better value. Better ventilation, superior build quality, removable liner and no-fog antireflective screen standard.

Can't comment on the noise, though- the Mainframe is the the only one I've worn at speed.

Bummer about the silvering. I absolutely adore my exo-400. I bought the shield that changes from clear to tinted to clear again, depending on current lighting conditions, so I don't have to worry about carrying a spare shield.

Yep, the photochromatic shield ran me like $55 plus tax from my shop in Naples. I got their last one. The price didn't bother me, as the HyperOptik or whatever from fog city is like $30, and you have to glue it on yourself, and you'd probably want to put it on a brand new visor anyway, so that's like $40 for a new visor. I absolutely love it. Especially since I just switched to contacts, so that I don't have to worry about glasses or sunglasses going inside the helmet.

I have the reflective BLUE shield for my mainframe... I find it scratches too easily as well. But I love the helmet.

"Pretty much every single mirrored face shield from all the manufacturers is the "light smoke" tint. The mirror coating is just for bling and scratches and flakes easily, no matter WHAT brand it is. I talked to a guy that did track days with a Shoei mirror shield and was replacing the shield every 3 track days due to scratching, chipping, and flaking off of the mirror coating.

If you want good sun protection from a visor, get a dark smoke tinted shield. They work extremely well and don't scratch nearly as easily as the mirror coated ones. You can only ride in the day unless you carry a spare shield with you, but for good visibility in super bright lighting, the dark smoke is the way to go."

Mirror shields are all cheap, no matter what brand it is.

I got the mirrored blue so that it would kinda match my bike. Otherwise, my helmet is yellow, red, and black.

I had a silver mirror shield got it free when I bought my bike. Then I ruined it when I highsided, oh well. Been useing my clear one with sunglasses underneath, one of the great things about the modulars is if you wear glasses it's easy to wear your glasses and put your helmet on.

I ride with my face shield up alot on slower roads when no traffic is in front of me so I never wear my contacts when riding.
