Seat lock problem...

So I decided I was going to ride the GS around this last weekend, but had a little trouble doing so. The battery died so I was going to hook it up to my trickle charger overnight. Problem is, I can't get to the battery because the seat lock wont turn. It's been sitting for a couple of months now, but I wouldn't think that's enough time to kill the lock. I can get the key in, but it simply wont turn. Already broke 2 keys trying. Thoughts? :dunno_white:

Light candles at both ends of the bike and assume the lotus position on the floor facing the lock. Draw your entire being into focus on the keyway and think Free Thougths.
I already tried this. No luck. :dunno_white:

Are the keys duplicates? Cuz I've heard several times on here that a spare key won't fit into the seat lock without being finished first. You could do what I did. Crash the bike. Then the tail plastics fall off. Bam, no need to use the seat lock.

Hang out there, we may flame, but we don't hate.

My attitude is in serious need of readjustment, and I'm ok with that.

One key was original and one was a duplicate. Only have one more original and a crap load of duplicates. Duplicates work fine in both the ignition and tank.

try squirting a little graphite lubricant in the lock and see if that helps... jiggle the key around for a bit to try to get it to go but don't force it, just jiggle. if doesn't work, try squirting some WD40 in there

Hmm. I know I've read on here how to get under the seat without a key. Lemme do a search and see what I can find.

Hipocracy.... becoming more acceptable with the more power you think you have.

Sometimes mine is a little bit difficult to open as well, but it's much easier if you push down on the seat to take the pressure off the latch while you turn the key.

my lock literally fell apart. It's not there any more. The only thing left is the wire and a metal clip. If I bought a new lock assem what would I have to do get it to work with my existing key?
