Question on replacing valve stems

Ok, new sport demons arrived in the mail today. I think I've got the basics on changing them, the only thing I'm still not sure on is replacing the valve stems. Are they pretty universal or do I need a specific size? Do I need a tool to install them? Thanks guys.

They are going to be standard for typical cast wheels.

There is a special tool that threads on the end so you can pull it through. I was able to push/pull them on by hand without a tool.

Are you mounting the tires yourself? I did that once on an old bike with a spoked steel 19" wheel that took an intertube, but I was woried about messing up on the smaller aluminum wheels, especially since if you scratch it the tire may leak.

Let us know how it works out and any special tools that you used. I just got my tires back from the shop and noticed that after $60 to mount and ballance the pair, they neglected to ballance the rear wheel

you cant ballance motorcycle tyres... i dont under stand

Yes motorcycle tires can be balanced. Most shops do not since there is a mark which is to be aligned with the stem. Most of the time that is good enough.

kinda hard to do that at my shop, we balance them for and mount them for 20$ with stem

Yeah, I'm planning on mounting them myself. I've got tire irons, rim protectors, and a gallon of some blue tire lube I got at NAPA. It sounds like breaking and setting the bead are usually the hardest parts. I'm hoping the little compressor I have will do it. Levering the tire on and off shouldn't be too bad. I'm sure there will be plenty of profanity the first time I do it, but I think if I take my time it shouldn't be a problem. My goal is to learn to do everything on my bike myself and not take it to the shop for anything. I kinda regret spending all my time in the computer lab in high school and not taking auto shop.

breaking the bead is the worst part a c- clamp will work in a pinch
going on is pretty easy
with lube....it almost falls on
