Blah blah blah...

leathers are great. using them is better. this guy chose not to use them AND try breaking 100mph.

Be smart is right. No amount of gear will help you if you're a dumb*ss.

And of course, it doesn't have to be leathers.  Modern textiles (Cordura nylon and others) can do a very, very good job of abrasion protection (although leather is still the best).  They are cheaper and cooler.  I think Aerostitch has some pictures of a Roadmaster suit that was crashed at 70 or 80; held up fine.

I have an Aerostitch Roadcrafter. I dropped my BMW at about 50 kph on a patch of diesel last year. I wasn't too impressed with the abrasion resistance. The armour was good though.

Aerostitch, or any cordura clothing for that matter, isn't even vaguely close to decent leather. It is way better than nothing though.

The Aerostitch is way over priced for a leaky suit.

A little respect of what can happen is a good thing.

Over the weekend I was in a car and a woman on a cruiser cruised by in a t-shirt, jeans and a half helmet.  I just don't understand so I asked my friend "What do they actually think?"  And her reply was "You and my brothers think about what if's and they think it will never happen to them."

Accidents happen thats why they are not called "on purposes".

I've never crashed in my Aerostich Roadcrafter, so I can't comment on the abrasion resistance. It stands to reason that it is nowhere as effective as leather.

As for leaky...

due to the design of the zipper, I get some leakage on an unfaired motorcycle in a downpour. I rode 2.5 hrs in a hard rain and was 90% dry at the end. I'll take the trade off of the convenient entry/exit of the suit for the occasional wet spot. Also, I now have a windscreen on the GS. I imagine between the screen and my tank bag, the rain will be sufficiently blocked to keep me 100% dry.

I have plenty of miles on mysuit and think that overall it was a very good value.

ouch.. it hurts to see all that road rash..

OUCH!

Needless to say i didnt show vanessa the pictures despite her being behind me (she is doign her homework).

when i said, i couldnt afford it, i meant it, lot of times, those rolled pennies are paying for the gas in the GS. side work has damn near come to a complete stop, dryed up. ontop of that i am stairing at a 453.00 fine for a speeding ticket back in april, that i let the ticket clinic take care of. "sorry sir, they found you guilty, but we are filing for midigation on your behalf"  yeah, what ever that means.  then june 5th, burnt front pads down to metal,  snuck home in work truck, got spare pair, put them on at work, punched out when time to leave, barley hit brakes till i got near home gettin off highway  12 outa 13.5 miles of highway grabed the brakes and nothing happened very fast, forgot to bed the pads. ok, i get onto a sidestreet, start pumping brakes, get near the stop sign and snatch rear comes up, (alittle un expected, but i can handle it). came to stop seting it back down, right foot goes down to keep from falling over,   make right turn, then imediate left still pumping brake now and then (still felt weird) stop sign coming up, blip, rear comes up again, sets down, right foot goes down.  i see car coming up behind alittle fast, i stall bike, put back into first gear and restart, lights go on.    blah blah blah,  he says i did a wheelie,  uh, no, i didnt.   (You didnt just lift the rear wheel off the ground?) yeah i did, but thats not a wheelie, (how about this  License and registration now) yes sir,...........5 mins later, sign here, this is your court date,   scribble scribble   Have a  NICE night officer......

Once an officer begins writing a ticket, your getting it, they dont want to do a 9 page report on why they changed their minds.  besides, he was doing his job,  i more then likly aggrivated him by contradicting his terminology so he is letting the judge deal with me.  i think we both were aggrivated, he with his night, me with the brakes. i think things would have turned out differently on any other day.i  also found, the next morning, why the pads didnt bed very well, rotor was warped, so im taking in the worn pads and warped rotor to show the judge. i hope he sees it for what it was, an un intentional event

Werase has the right idea about finding a shoe repair shop...you could also try any seamstress, though there are precious few nowadays.  I'm lucky.  In my town (1/2 mile from my front door, no less!) is a sweet little lady who came here a few years ago from Bosnia to get away from all the trouble.  She has made alterations for me and done some amazingly useful things...moving velcro...replacing zippers and snaps...adding things like pull-tye closures, patches, liners, etc.  She's a real jewel, and charges next to nothing.  She smiles whenever I show up...I think she knows I'll have some interesting project for her that no one else brings her.  That, plus I bring dunkijn donuts.  Whatever works
Also try small, private dress shops, taylor shop...but you really have to look for these places.

Blueknyt

check that who needs parts, i was thinking V4 Honda Sabre Forum for a moment,  yeah i have a 85 honda V65 sabre too, its a project bike, but i dont have the resources for it, so, im ready to sell it for 300$ or part it out for what ever i get. i do have a title for it.  Srinath?
