Hey!
I'm a getting a new bike - the GS500, but was wondering if someone could give me a little advice. I am soon to pass my driving test, and was wondering if this is going to be a good bike to get next after my learner bike (GN125). What do you think? I'm going to be doing the Direct Access Scheme (in the UK) so this should help me out a lot too. I did roughly 30,000 miles on my first bike in a year and a half.

Thanks,
Adam

Oh, almost forgot the bike is 11 years old, green, just needs an MOT and tax....ohh and I'm getting it for free!

Yes, this is definitely a good beginner / intermediate bike (I'm pretty close to you in riding experience).  And you can't beat the price--free!  How did you get so lucky?

Most excellent price!!!  :thumb: Perfect bike to start/continue on. Do you have to put restrictor kits on where you are? Just curious.

Oh...and welcome!!  :thumb:

You did 30,000mi in one year on a 125?  :cookoo: wow! Yeah the 500 is a good next step up, and is capable enough to do most things well.

How old are you? If he is doing direct access he is then qualified to ride any bike he likes. If however like me he is under 21 he has to have a restricted license for 2 years, to 33bhp. BTW i think the GS500 would be a great bike to start on. I looked into getting one before i found my zxr400.

The fact that you're thinking about it and are concerned about it shows that you have a good head on your shoulders. I have no doubt you'll respect the extra power and take your time getting used to your new baby. :icon_mrgreen:

We definitely will expect pics, and congrats!!!!  :thumb:

Don't be afraid of it, it has a good amount of power but isnt overwhelming at all. I had a KX125 dirtbike when i was 16. I went from that to the GS500, im 22 now and havn't ridden since i had that 125. I love it and you'll have a blast on it .
