Why I stunt.

Short answer for people who don't care: I'm a squid.

Real answer:

Stunting for me is just an expression of the joy of riding. I'm just so exuberant that I can't contain it. I don't care what anyone says or does, I love that feeling of the front end rising up, standing up and spreading my arms, and even sitting on the tank.

Anyways this occurred to me when I set down the wheel a little crooked and got rocked around a bit. (ok, a lot and felt like I almost lost it, scared the hell out of me...) I parked it right there and sat for a bit asking myself why I would do something so stupid and dangerous.

I realized that joy was the reason behind it. I got back on and sat on the tank for a little run of the road and smiled as big as I ever have.

Before I get flamed with the gear/controlled area stuff:

I was wearing all my gear (helmet, jacket, gloves, pants, boots) and it's a construction road. (Flat for houses, no living creatures for miles.)

Anyways thought I might share that little thought for you.

no one can argue with that joy. its the same reason I go to the track. I have nothing against stunt riders in general. I DO have somethings against stunt riders that wheelie on the freeway with traffic around, or other such nonsense.

Yeah on the freeway I doubt the GS could get up.

But in traffic I think less about joy and more about "If I fell the car behind me would run me over, right on the chest cavity..."

Skydiving, basejumping, downhill skiing, hot-dogging, paint-ball, roller coasters, solo backpacking, tree climbing, running with scissors.

All involve some level of risk, and in each case that risk is part of the rush that brings us back for more (ok, the scissors might be a stretch)  Stunting is no different.  I doubt anyone takes issue with someone's decision to ride like that.  It's just a shame that the most visible and vocal stunters are the chuckleheads that take it to the streets

In short, go nuts, have fun, and don't put anyone else at risk but yourself  :thumb:

Stunting is like sex with a hooker...  You can do whatever you want, but if you don't wear your protection your chances of ending up in a hospital are a LOT higher...

Even with protection, something could go very wrong and you could end up in a box.  :nono:

Yeah I realize how much it can be like "ZOMFG OW!!!" I have been down. :o
