But I just wrapped up my progressive spring install....

HOLY SHATNER!....  Its beautiful!

I did it the quick and simple way, since the Stealership just swapped out my fork seals on warranty and had to put in new oil anyhow....

I recorded doing one side on video, and might youtube it and see if they can link to it from the GSFAQ/How To site....

Totally!

I didn't believe the difference either...  It's something you have to feel.

TragicImage

maybe I can swap out the the stockers, do a side view of the compression, and then show a side view of progressive compression....

then again... that would reduce ride time more than it already is.

okay, now to go swap out from 14t up to a 15t....

13 is ridiculous, 14 is okay.... I think 15t is the right spot to be.

I guess this is my final motivation to get me to do it, seeing as how a bunch of
oil seems to have squirted out of the forks... while I transported the bike on
my move from AZ to CA.  The tie-downs had the fork compressed the whole way
but I guess bumps on the road made some oil leak out.

RVertigo

I've heard of that happening before jjr_vw.

And yes...  If you're messing with your fork seals, you have to take the forks off, so you might as well drop better springs in there. :thumb:

youtube it , man...I'm doing mine tomorrow and I'd LOVE to see what I'm supposed to do.

Progressives.  I did it the cheater way though that pablo described... and after reviewing the tape, i had butter fingers like crazy....

Anyways, all I did was unscrew the top-cap... yank out the spacer, spring-washer thing, and spring with a coat hanger (careful not to scratch), drop in the progressive spring "tight" side down, washer on top... 3/4 inch PVC spacer, and put the top cap back on.

I'll see if I can edit the video tonight and post it.  I have to transfer from Camcorder to DVR to DVD to Computer, then edit... kinda  PITA, but for my family... I'll do it.....

Jazerr... Pantablo's site has an excellent walk through.

I need new rubber like crazy...  I may back out of doing ACH....  Enjoy doing Fontana....  Jen_ (from this board)  said she might go.

I just tore through Boquet Canyon, and lost my front and rear... a couple of times.... really un-nerving.... could of been a Jinx because my father and I were both talking about how horribly bad we both need tires, (Todd at CalSportBike is hooking us up with good deals on Rubber).

Man, I did my progressives this weekend. Took all of 30 minutes, and oh my goodness, what a difference it makes.

Think about the settings BEFORE you put it on.   ;)

I'm about 190 with gear.  Mine is set to 3 pre-load 2 rebound (a little stiff).  Search or ask around for some other people's settings.

Also...  If you can't get the pivot bolts out, you CAN get the shock through the top...  Pull the tank and airbox...  It WILL go in that way...  Just don't ask how I know that.
