I need a tank cam.

Bad....

I want to prove to haters of small bikes that the GS can slay ANY giant.

Where can I find an OK one for cheap. (Really cheap..)

BTW before I get a "Search Noob" I am asking because everything I found sucks and I have NO experience with video cameras.

Try looking for a Gixxer tank mount I think the cap ring pattern is the same as the gs500. You might make a paper template and run by a stealership to verify this. I saw them on ebay a while back.

Yes the GS can turn well. But giant slaying is a contest of skill between riders if you were truly competing against highly skilled riders you might find your statement to not be completely true. And where does this slaying occur? I hope on a track where it belongs otherwise  :nono:
Why didn't you just go the whole way and buy me a f@#king Kawasaki you bastards.

I have a Sony DV cam I bought a year ago for around $300.  It has dropped in price since then (because it uses digital tape rather than a card / disk).  It's amazingly light weight and could probably be found cheaply on e-bay.  Another option would be to buy a re-conditioned camera.

It might be possible to rig up a camera mount using a large suction cup and a bolt (I don't know the size, but if you take a camera tripod mount to the hardware store, I'm sure you could find a bolt to match the size and thread).  Another option would be to use an old helmet and duct tape.  I hear lighter fluid is good for removing the sticky tape residue.

If you get a good recording, be sure to post it! :thumb:

There's another option!  You could ride your bike in Monterey Bay and we could watch you on the kelp forest web-cam! :thumb:

uhm... you will need something that has significant lift OVER the cluster to get a decent view.

Search "Mantis, Motorcycle, Camera" on eBay..... something very similar to that.

The one on eBay for 27 bucks sits too low for it to be any good.

I've got one of these.  You may want to mail Barna and see if he's got access to a GS500 tank.  The camera mount is fantastic, and I'm sure shipping would be pretty cheap.  Check out page five for the adjustable version.

thats a similar style to the cam mount I have, and isn't nearly high enough.

I'm in the process of designing a tank can mount made from 16 gauge metal.

I made a video.   I used my camcorder 8mm, and put it in my tank bag and left the lense sticking out of the zipper hole.  Pretty funny!
