If I were to part out my 1991 GS due to a blown engine and too much lazyness to fix it, how much do you think I would get.  The bike is in otherwise great shape, IE plastics and tank not dented scratched etc.  and I could even part out most of the engine as well.  I'm trying to figure out how much money it would be worth to get the bike back in running order and then to sell it as opposed to parting it out which would also help the community.  Thanks!

A couple hundred immediately, a couple 100 if you're really really lucky in a month or 2. And the rest of the sheite will sit there and ruin your life.
Frame, shocks, wheels, motor all of it is worthless. Some stuff you'd have to pay to get rid of. Body bits, guages, carbs, electricals, headlight, F. suspension, outer cases are all you'd sell. Oh yea, alternators, starters, trigger and ignition coils. If its big, or heavy you're likely going to get stuck with it.
Cool.

You may want to keep your eyes open for a used engine before you part it out. Probally worth more as a running bike. Otherwise strip it all down in one day and put the stuff on ebay. If you put an add out saying that you're parting it out, you'll probally get endless calls for the same part that you already sold. Not worth your time. All or nothing!

Well if you decide to part it out I would like to pick up the tank and possibly the plastics.  Let me know if you decide to do it.

Oh, looks like you're in CA.  Damn.  A working bike with a blown engine would have been right up my alley...
