Saw it on HackADay ....

Bet you can do it to a GS Makenzie ...  0-60 in 9 seconds ,.. top end 75 woohoo!

haha thats awesome, just dont wire it backwards!

and don't ride in the rain, or live too close to the water.  Thing sounds like a turd, and 0-60 in nine seconds sounds dangerously slow for a bike.  Conceptually sound, but practically worthless.

I think that it's about as fast as an EX250.

Water proofing it wouldn't be too hard. I mean submarines are electric... Your bike does have a charging system after all... (Yes that's electricy in those wires.....)

Practicality? For a sport bike? As a sport bike it's not exactly a good idea, but neither is the ex250. So I'll hand you that one, but around town it wouldn't be a bad form of, dorm to college to coffee shop to party then to the dorm transport. In the velocitized world of freeways and raging cagers not practical, but on surface streets, yeah. (Of course scooters are already in this niche, so my point is NEARLY moot. But not many scooter REACH 65 at all so this adds versatility.)

If Mak made it the monster would power wheelie, shoot sparks and leave a flaming tire track as it went BACK TO THE FUTURE!
Rich, RIP.

makenzie71

it needs a bigger capacitor...it'll run 10's.

CirclesCenter

Rich, RIP.

makenzie71

A good run capacitor would probably do it.  Flux capacitors tend to make too much static.

I still wouldn't use a flux capacitor.  If for no other reason than the rarity.

What about a Mr. Fusion?

If you've got a spare I could really use it, with the price of gas and electricity going up all the time and such....
Rich, RIP.

makenzie71

Make your own damn fusion device...I won't share mine.

CirclesCenter

Can i at least have a spare turbine then?

I promise I won't use myself as a pole to hold it into the wind!

But seriously, a capacitor? Nice.

You'd have to wait for it to charge the capacitor, kinda like a camera flash.

You'd probably cook the motor too, but I admit my knowledge of electric motors is limited.
Rich, RIP.

makenzie71

It's a DC motor...it's harder to fry them than people give them credit.  The motor is probably rated far beyond what it's being used for at the moment.  Though spoken as a joke, a capacitor very well could make the bike much faster...briefly.  So what you do, is incorparate a wind turbine.

Here's how it works:

You're wrong.  Ninja 250r runs 0-60 in 5.75 seconds with a top speed of 105mph.  I'd say that's a BIG differece.  Since we're using the ninja as our baseline of street power/saftey, I'd say the electric bike is sub par.  Might be nice for off road use.

No kidding huh?  Take your electric motor RC car outside and run it in the rain and through some puddles.  I know it can be water proofed, I ARE NOT DUMB, but my jacket is waterproof too, and everytime it rains I get soaked.  It happens.  Plus what about humidity and oxidation?  If that bike was ever put into production, it'd have to come with a multimeter in the tool bag.  I like internal combustion engines to get me around.  If that's not available, I'll take a bicycle, and if that's got a flat, I'll resort to walking.  Why are you trying to defend that turd bike?  If you like it so much build one.

Got a patent on that yet?

'Cause if no, now you can't since you published it.

;)

Re the OP: Looks like plenty fast enough for commuting to me. But you shouldn't clothe that sheep in a wolfskin.
