I don't bother with patents...only plublishing.  I seek not exclusive right, only recognition by the historians as the guy who thunk it.

Water proofing it wouldn't be too hard. I mean submarines are electric... Your bike does have a charging system after all... (Yes that's electricy in those wires.....)

No kidding huh?  Take your electric motor RC car outside and run it in the rain and through some puddles.  I know it can be water proofed, I ARE NOT DUMB, but my jacket is waterproof too, and everytime it rains I get soaked.  It happens.  Plus what about humidity and oxidation?  If that bike was ever put into production, it'd have to come with a multimeter in the tool bag.  I like internal combustion engines to get me around.  If that's not available, I'll take a bicycle, and if that's got a flat, I'll resort to walking.  Why are you trying to defend that turd bike?  If you like it so much build one.

Wow - testy.

As a proof of concept, the bike's pretty cool.

Other people have sucessfully built electric bikes.  Eyeball Engineering built a drag bike in the 80s ... pulled a 11.54 at 109.68 1/4 mile.

More recently, someone converted a K75 to add 4 strings of 12v batteries.

As for the rain ... you don't have to garage your electric car when it starts to pour .. or your electric golf cart.  I'm sure you can make a bike that works too.  This isn't a $50 RC car (or $500 for that matter).

The Model T wasn't very fast either...  :dunno_white:

It's just a matter of time before someone makes one that will whip along with normal mid-sized sport bikes...

The idea is what's cool.  To the guy that built it:     You're the man now dog. :thumb:

I think thats pretty sweet, but I do wonder its weight.

Ok i forgot, water has special properties that allow it to penetrate every single water proofing material we have, because water has a cheat code for NOCLIP mode.

Anyways seriously man, it's not like we're dealing with a lot of parts here.

Battery.
Electric motor.

Now wait, hold on..... Here's where it gets interesting....

What does your bike have?

Battery.
Alternator. (Or generator, but whatever. It turns mech energy into electrical.) BTW Alternators/generators are just the opposite of an electric motor.

Does your bike suddenly die in the rain?

How the hell is that any different?

Actually no, they're exactly the same.  Any electric motor, if spun mechanically, will generate electricity under the propper circumstances.  DC motors are prime examples...they produce power under ANY condition just by spinning the shaft.  AC motors have to be excited, which requires electricity (which they'll produce plenty using a capacitor and spinning the motor about 10% faster than it's rated RPM), or have magnets installed to produce power like DC motors.

CirclesCenter

Yeah, true Mak.

But I didn't want to blow too many circuit breakers and have to take them back to electronics 101.

But it looks like that might be needed.
Rich, RIP.

in town riding it wouldnt be to bad, i mean really, it wouldnt be. what was the range did he say?
nee down mother F***ers

Mandres

I wonder about the range too.  If it's only good for a 10 minute run and takes 2 hours to charge then it's not too practical.
