Hi, i am the hapy new owner of a black 06 gs500. I was looking arount for a modulator and found this http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/Search?catalogId=10111&storeId=10101&sku=modulator

I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this one and if they figured out how to add a on/off switch or a light sensor?

Thanks.......Kory

I believe there are some modulators that have light sensors built-in.

The description says that you use a switch to turn it on and off. Probally isn't included though. Sounds like a good deal if it works. Not bad for $25. I'd prefer a switch over a light sensor anyways, sometimes you may not want it to flash.

In the USA, the light sensor is required by law.  You can have a switch too, but it has to automatically shut off when it's dark.

I really like my Kisan Pathblazer.  At $100, it was expensive, but it has already saved my bacon once.

I think that the law that was just listed by Chuck, says that a state cannot prohibit a headlight modulator so long as it meets all of those criteria. I think that you still have to check your state law to determine if it's really illegal without a light sensor. Besides, so long as you don't ride with it on at night, you won't get a ticket. I like the idea of a $25 unit rather than $100+

That's right.  The federal law lists the standards which prevent the states from banning them.  That's what people usually go by because it's one thing instead of 50 things.
