since you are not at fault I find it incomprehensible that your bike isnt returned to condition as before, no questions asked...who cares what the bikes value is...unless they're totalling it-did I miss that? if they are you're in for a fight. I was just talking to a couple friends in that situation and they had to present a case for how much their vehicles were valued in order to get satisfaction from the insurance company. They will lowball anyone to keep from paying out. rat bastards.

Yeah, they declared it a total loss because the repairs came out to roughly $2200 before aftermarket parts. I'm in the fighting process right now.

Alright, I got the final word from the insurance company. My adjuster says that the highest he can go is $3300 and I keep the bike. Should I try and argue him up to $3400, or is it not worth the effort?

Also, thanks to everyone who responded to my "soft fork springs" poll! With that evidence he added on a 50% value of the springs to the value of the bike (~$50). Every penny counts, eh?

Also, if my father decides he wouldn't mind having a track bike to use, the GS will stay in the family in track-only guise, otherwise it's getting sold in favor of a DRZSM I'm looking at.

Hang out there, we may flame, but we don't hate.

My attitude is in serious need of readjustment, and I'm ok with that.

Wow, thats a great deal.  I love your bike...but on paper you have to admit, $3,300 for a 2004 GS500 with 16k miles and a few minor accidents and some modifications is awesome.

TAKE THE DEAL!

$3300 after I buy the bike back. I think he said it was worth $3650 before TTL, and close to $4000 after TTL. I'm just argumentative. I'm going to give it one shot to see if he'll waive it up to $3400 and the bike, but just one shot. If he doesn't bite, I'll just take the deal.

I'ma get retarded! Err... motarded. Mo'tarded?

Well, I settled. I am going to pick the bike up in an hour or so, and go get the check from the insurance company's claim office.

I have an interested buyer, and he's going to come look at the bike tomorrow. We'll decide which parts he wants and which ones he doesn't, and the bike will go to whatever condition we agree upon, and the other parts will go up for sale here.

A few people already have dibbs on parts if they go on sale...
AJ - SV mirrors
average - F model headlight
coll0412 - RaceTech springs
dwn4whadever - SM2s

Alright people, start callin' dibbs on parts!

Guage cluster unlikely, but I'll put you down for the E model headlight (it'll be the whole setup)

.8 kg/mm, spacer material is set to 20mm or preload, and I have extra left over, I believe.

Mmm...the springs might be a bit soft, I assumed you had .85kg/mm but you must be a lightweight  :)

How about the case guards, did they get toast in the fall??

I'm a whomping 130. Look out!

The case guards are scratched up, but that's about it. Still perfectly functional.
