boy do i hate u guys.......

after reading the previous posts (ive read about 24 pages in one night and 10 pages each night going backwards...so im up to like page 20 or 10 or something like that now) i wanna do some nice mods to the bike.
i wanted the gs500 as a nice, cheap starter bike to learn on and get around  but NoOOoooOoOoooOo~ u guys make me wanna get all the rust off and powdercoat the whole frame, swingarm and wheel spokes and polish the rims and get a whole new paint job (black/gold, black/chrome, all black, navy/gold...thats all i got so far..)! maybe convert to dual round headlights or get a streetfighter-type fairing (havent come across any nice ones yet...seen quite a few) for at least a little wind protection.
oh and dont forget the belly pan! and maybe a nice pipe with air filter and drop a tooth since ill do alot of stop and go? and whats an ignition advancer and how does it help? new case covers and crash protectors would be nice too since the previous owner dropped it a few times...

now my nice $1100 bike is quickly turning into........(doing some quick estimates....).........an almost $2000+ bike! curse u guys! CURSE YOU!
actually....i can have a pretty mean looking bike for $2000? that doesnt sound too bad anymore.....but im really limited on funds right now so alot of it will have to wait. maybe i should save all that money and get a nicer bike in a couple of years? that was my original thinking but who knows what will happen now....

oh yea.....when i bought the bike my friend parked it in front of my girlfriends house but i had to move it two days later bc the landlord was bitching....now i never operated one of these before....
i stalled the engine a few times....tried finding neutral for 10 minutes (figured out its only a HALF click up from first! not a full click hehe)....
i was pussying out on the throttle when letting out the clutch bc i have no helmet/license/insurance/experience and i didnt wanna rocket out into the street.....thats why the engine kept dying on me...then i gave it a little more gas and it started moving and then it started bucking like a bronco! anyways to make a long story short....i dropped the bike :o
it was bucking and then it lost balance and i let her down real slow.....
i scraped my knee and in about 2 seconds i did the following:
quickly got up and looked around to see if anyone saw....then i looked at the bike, put one hand on each handlegrip and tried to lift, didnt work so i laid it back down and grabbed under the tank and lifted it onto the wheels...
then i walked beside the bike holding the handlebars for about a block....
and the i inspected the damage.....i scraped some rubber off the footpeg...thats about it....the previous owner laid it down on the right side many times and no new damage was found from my mishap.....
i havent told anyone about this yet....ive kept it a secret for like 3 whole days!! hahaha feels good to let it out!

the point of the story is.....I RODE MY BIKE FROM THE CURB TO THE DOUBLE YELLOW LINE!!!!!! YEAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!
cant wait for msf (or until my friend gets back from cancun so he can teach me!!)!!!!!!!!
i dont think ill try on my own anymore.....

how come the minifairing on the z1000 looks good but the universal streetfighter fairings look like garbage? theres a yellow one on the wall of fame with inegrated turn signals that looked alot like the one i wanted but now that i see it mounted on the bike it looks very small/awkward....if u guys see any good ones gimme link! thanks.
sorry about the long post guys.....it just seems to happen.....-=(

...but seriously...before sinking any bones into the bike, learn to ride it well first so all those cool mods you're planning don't get all farged up... :thumb:
GS500E....back where it all began....again.

some advice from a fellow beginer for you paui:

don't let your friend teach you!  take the msf course.  your friend will most likely just teach you a bunch of bad habits that you'd have to break once you went to take the msf course.

start with the course.  then if you want to find an experienced rider(s) who can ride with you and give you advice and things like that, then that's great.  but get that msf course as your base.  build on it.  use it as your foundation rather than simply another building block.
