Help w/ Emblem Application

Mmm-kay...in my infinite wisdom, I went to remove a factory sticker, and brought with it a nice chunk of the stock decal on top of my fairing.  Was going to stick something there anyway, so no big.

Here's the question...the emblem I'm sticking there is slightly larger than the amount of decal removed.  The below images illustrate this...one shows the damage and one shows a cut-out the size of the emblem I'm attaching.

Given that there will still be some decal under the emblem, I'm thinking maybe I should apply some adhesive to the white plastic area, to make up for the small difference in height between the decal area and the removed area (if that makes any sense).  Wondering what type of adhesive I should use (rubber cement, self-vulcanizing rubber cement, etc etc).  Or should I not apply any adhesive?  The emblem does have it's own adhesive back, but again I'm worried the adhesion won't be great because of the [slight] difference in height of the mounting area.

Good day to you!

I say just get some goo gone and try to get the warning sticker off, that would seem like it would be easier.

Warning sticker already gone.  Will blast the area w/ goo gone before application, but am wondering if I should put down some kind of adhesive to make up for the height difference b/t the area w/ decal and area w/o.  Have plain rubber cement on hand, as well as self-vulcanizing fluid (i.e. vulcanizing rubber cement), but will get something else if needed.

I wouldn't think you'd have too. I don't think it's thick enough to worry about

I think you may be damned if you do and damned if you don't. Not being able to sand off any excess I would think it would be too easy to put too much on and make it worse. And I know if you do nothing..you'll be able to notice it for sure because you know it's there but others may not even notice. This is one of those deals that drive you nuts!

+1  I'm just gonna have to roll with it and see what happens.  Not the end of the world either way.
Good day to you!

Well you are going to have to make that call..I would go with the lesser evil ...just put the sticker over it and deal with it :thumb:

I would try some 4-600 grit sandpaper to help make it less of a drop-off, mask off around it so you don't scuff up anything you dont want to.

Try dropping down to 4 Oreos and set your pilot screw 3 turns out.

You know I was going to suggest the same thing but I just don't want him making a bigger mess. We don't know his experience with sanding and it's a recipe for disaster for some so it's just to big of a risk for me IMHO. That's why I leave all them damn stickers on LMAO. Ok I'll just say it "I'm scared" OK LMAO. I just won't do it.

If you decide to sand it, think about making a stencil so that you only sand within the size square you want (like some sturdy cardbard or plastic sheet with a square cut out of it).  How thick is the decal?  Perhaps it won't show.  Or how expensive?  If it shows the lines and drives you nuts, buy another one and stick it directly on top.  That might work.  But like JB implied, there may be no good options, just a matter of luck.

Once again I bit my lip..If you are that wrapped around the axles like I am..I would trace it out and do that. Look I am trying not to send him down a road that he thinks is easy it is not! He had problems pulling off the sticker which is common. No big deal. Don't make it bigger!
