Centerstand question

I just put on my aftermarket exhaust system and it doesn't have a centerstand stop.  So the stand comes up and hits whatever it hits without the stop there.  I was wondering if this okay to leave like that or should I remove it?  I was planning on removing it but I just wanted to get some imput first.

Take a look at what it hits first.  Then stick on a rubber stop if it is in a low visibility area.  Or have a welder put the stock tab and rubber stup from the stock exhaust on your new one.  Just be creative or take it off.  It won't affect anything other than helping you with maintenance.

It hits the bottom of the shock or the bracket that it bolts to.  I might have the stock bump welded on, I have a good shop that does work like that for practically nothing.  I took it off for now, but I'll probably work on something over the winter.  Right now I want to ride before it starts snowing.  Thanks for your help.

you can remove it & still be able to reattach it easily without having to remove the exhaust. I do it all the time for oil changes & such. in fact my bike is on its centerstand right now & will most likely be there all winter. just remove it entirely. to reattach it, keep the metal slide-tubes that the bolts go through inside it (you'll see what I mean if you take it off). The exhause-side bolt is too long to get back in because of interference w/ the exhaust. you can slide the regular bolt through on the other side, and just get a shorter or thinner bolt for the exhaust side. it'll work fine.

I just took it off and I see what you're talking about.  I think I'll do that because it isn't hard to take off.  Thanks

I put an "L" shaped piece of steel with a hole on each end to stop the centerstand. One hole bolts to the bottom of the rear shock and the other hole has the original rubber stop in it. Works like a champ- and costs nothing to make. The center stand is important for me, I want it available all the time. I've had lots of flat tires in my riding career.
