I hit 5,000 last night, in just over 1 year.   :thumb:   At this point, I'm ready for a 'Busa.   (cough cough)
On those days when life is a little too much and nothing seems to be going right, I pause for a moment to ponder the wise last words of my grandfather:  "I wonder where the mother bear is?"

Every time I ride I feel like "Now I know what I'm doing" - clearly I never do. Still waiting for the first MSF class next month. By the way, riding in my van is a real chore now.

In Washington, you can get a learners permit without taking a test, and that lets you ride for 90 days before you have to take the test. You don't need to be with anyone with a motorcycle end either, you just can't carry a passenger or ride at night. If you're under 18 you have to take the MSF course. I took the MSF course before I even had my drivers liscence so that when I went to get my drivers liscence I had my endorsement on there from day 1. I didn't want to wait all day in line at the DMV any more than I needed to.

here its not worth trying to get your m edorsement be for 18 cause you cant get any thing bigger then a 250 .... but our perments you have to have someone with you .. i think it last a year or so ..

Here in MD, you get a learner's permit. Two weeks later you can take your test. I posted a discussion on test comedies...some people had some pretty funny stories. Passed the test, and have an M endorsement. Was pretty easy, really - not the test but the process. All of the local courses were full, so I had a while to wait. Since I bought a bike, I refused to do that. For the two weeks I basically rode in the parking lot, and did the same extended ride on some back roads. That is one positive about MD.
