Blue Smoke Gone; thanks..

The oil-burning blue smoke is mostly gone-- 

I was the guy who thought his bike was
burning oil like mad after having been left on its side for a few days.
I ran it around for an hour, then again for two hours, and most of the smoke is gone.
A little at night; but not embarassing. The advice I was given here was spot-on.

Sorry for not responding to questions about oil, repair steps, etc.  I didn't pay my
Internet bill on time, and i've been out of the loop.

But THANKS for the advice; I'll put in a heavier oil and stop lending it out.
And not post any more hysterical "help-me!" type posts.

(still a mystery to me: he ran it out of gas on the PRIME setting (no Reserve),
killed the battery trying to re-start it, fried the starter relay, and walked it to a friend's
apartment garage where "phantoms"  knocked it over but later stood it back up...
How did so much gas get into the oil (crankcase)  if the tank was bone dry, that is--
dry enough to stall the bike while he was riding it...  the bike  must have been taking
gasoline into the oil for at least a month.. (?)     When I drained the
oil it looked and smelled like dirty gasoline--- no lubrication whatsoever.
Funny that if it hadn't been knocked over,  I might still be riding it, not knowing that
my engine oil is basically gasoline.. )

If the oil was that trashed and there is a posibility that your dumbass friend (former?) rode it like that, you may want to chech for some engine dammage. You should cut the paper off of your oil filter and spread it out. Check for pieces of bearings and any other chunks, also drain the oil into a clean pan and check it for chunks too. Hooking up an oil pressure gauge would be a good idea too.

You know you can't trust this guy and you know he's a moron, so anything could have happened. It would pay to check it out.

those are the karma bunnies. sometimes they have to make bad things happen in order to keep WORSE things from happening.  :)
