Went out for a morning ride yesterday and I thought I layered-up, but it was very cold at 70 MPH.

What are you guys wearing to stay warm this Fall?  I only have a Tourmaster Mesh jacket and the liner won't be available until December.

leather, picked up one of those closeout shift-racing ce jackets at motorcyclesuperstore.com.  Cheap and really nice.  Also the Ballistic 5.0 gloves seem to be working nice in this weather.

I am in NY

Kansas GS

Leather jacket with liner and a vest underneath. It was 30 here in Kansas this morning. Beautiful day though. It will be 58 this afternoon. That makes the morning ride woth it. Have a good one.

I'm wearing Gerbing's heated gloves for the first time.  Very nice.  I hope I don't melt my generator/regulator.

Were having snow today, first of the season.

I wear my Yamaha accelerator jacket with the liner in, Windchill gloves, CKX modle-X helmet with double lens, thermal undies and Burton mountain snowboarding socks... plus the ski mask that came with the helmet and the breath deflector.  It's still DAMN cold in upstate NY right now though.

Wear something over the mesh jacket to keep the air out/off, for the meanwhile.  newspaper under the jacket will help keep the cold air off ya, too.

I wear my JR textile jacket w/ liner... it keeps my top half nice and warm.  I don't have riding pants ( :nono: ) but I ended up wearing light snowpants over my khakis once or twice last week on the cold mornings (~30*F).  My feet are mostly fine and my hands haven't been getting too bad even though my leather gloves are really thin.  If the hands do get cold, I just put them next to the engine fins to warm them up.

Today didn't look to promising, so I wrapped myself in a nice warm metro transit bus

I'm in NM, so I'm lucky I'm still in summer gloves, although my hands freeze in the AM when it's about 50degrees. Cortech tourmaster textile with liner is awesome though, I usually wear a hoodie too, although I want to invest in a Baclava (sp?) masks for those cold mornings. Daytime riding is still toasty here, so I consider myself lucky.

I'm glad someone posted about Winter gear. I currently have a Joe Rocket Atomic jacket with a liner but it doesnt do a very good job keeping me warm when it drops below 50 or so. My gloves are J.R. leather/ mesh shorties that a wear a liner under if it its chilly enough.

I'm thinking about getting a 3/4 jacket for Winter riding, I never wanted once before since they look kind of dorky. But at this stage in the game I'll trade warmth over looks easily, does anyone have any experience with one like this?

I have a feeling a three quarter jacket would be better for long distance rides and cold days then my regular textile J.R. sport jacket.

ashman - i'm looking into that same jacket as well.  the TM "Advanced" jacket is for sale for around $115, but i con't tell any discernable difference except the Advanced has 150g insulation in the lining for the chest and the Saber has 100g.

I've been thinking about putting my LL Bean waterproof windbreaker over themeshfor the time being.  I als wear an insulated "shell" under the mesh and usually a sweater and microfiber under that.

Good to know that the textile options are reasonable for 40-60* weather.

Wind/rain blocking liner makes all the difference for mesh jackets.  Dress in layers under that. :thumb:

Graham - I'm not sure I could live with the camo thing, does it grow on you?  Also does it have a quilted liner like some of the tex offerings?

+1, but that's one hell of a price, I could see it growing on me for that reason   If you bought it and hated the color you could just have it dyed all black or something for not too much $$ (relative to the price of a new jacket).

i just picked up the Tourmaster Transitions 3/4 length textile with liner from www.newenough.com for $135.  shipping is free on that model and I like the simple styles that TM carries.  should have it within the week!

Yeah, I can understand that Camo concern.  I really need to dress  on the conservative side at work.  BUT I also didn't want all Black, I wanted a bit more visibility especially as my ride home is dusk/dark.  I went with the Black/White version.  I have an 06 so the black and white matches the bike.  For the price I overlooked the style a bit and got one.  BTW they run small so at least one size up is necessary, and the neck it a loose fit and lets air through.  I wear a collar now that it is cold to keep the cold air out.

I take it like a macho men  :icon_mrgreen:

last week I rode to work everyday, and had to deal with 0 celsius at 7:40am a couple of times (freezing temp).

of course I just moved to Reno, so I might as well get used to it.
Caturday yet?
