Alright, need some help here..  I just gave my GS a new look and update.  Pictures will soon be posted.  My next thing is getting a new canister on her.  I have researched a little and know that Yoshimura, D&D, and Cobra are good for the GS.  I don't want to put on a full system, just a slip-on.  I am looking to make the GS a little louder without overkilling it.  Couple questions?  What size is the exaust pipe conecting to the canister?  2 inch?  Also, I am not looking to spend too much money here..  Considering all the money I have put into her already.. Will any slip-on do that fits whatever size pipe the GS has?  I want a good looking and sounding slip-on in which I don't need to rejet the carb... Don't feel like tearing the bike apart again this summer, maybe later.. Please help!  Thanks, Ryan

1 7/8"

I've been told by Yoshimura that cbr600f2/f3 mid pipes were also 1 7/8 so you could install a midpipe and slip on for those bikes. I haven't tried this so don't quote me though. Srinath tells everyone you could use any can.

But unless you buy them at a wrecking yard you'll pay plenty for the slip on from another bike. Yosh slip ons run $300+ new. For that, you could buy the V&H full system new.

I believe it's Pantablo's sight that has some info on the pipes you are looking for, especially the cobra. If I remember correctly, it's fairly cheap and looks great. If it's not directly on his site, I know it's in one of the links. Just checked it out last night. Good luck! :thumb:
I regret that I have but one ass to ride a bike with.

Well, I will see what I come up with... Just think the stock canister sounds too quiet!  Need a little more noise than that!  I will let you know what I come up with.  I have been looking at the F1's by Cobra though... Nice looking, great sound and not too expensive!  Can't wait to post a picture of my newly re-done GS..  I think a lot of you will like it!   Thanks, Ryan

I have an F1R and it's loud loud, with no real reason to rejet.  Also most people like the F1S because it has the little snout thing coming out of the end of the cannister.  I also don't think it's quite as loud as the F1R.  They both cost the same (which is cheaper than most anything else).  Also, they're mostly used to change the sound of your bike and not the performance, therefore you wouldn't have to rejet if you didn't want to.
Use the S if you want it to be not quite as loud, use the R if you like it really loud.  If you're indifferent about the noise, then go off which one you think looks better.

Thanks John!!  I really appreciate all the advice!  I like the look of the F1s!!  I might go with that then... It is louder than the stock exhaust right?

Yeah, the F1S is much louder than stock, just not quite as loud as the F1R.  The bike should sound a little growly and deeper at low to mid range while riding, and it will get higher pitched the faster you go.  It'll be like its yelling at higher rpms (but not quite screaming like other sportbikes do).  It's a good sound.  It makes the bike sound bigger than it actually is.
