Probably getting a leather suit for my birtday

http://www.newenough.com/teknic_lightning5_1pc_suit_page.htm

Also gonna be my first track day on Nov 10. I probably won't go much after this one trip, maybe once, twice a year? I won't wear the suit for anything other than the track. The track is near Miami, FL so it will be generally hot (although it's cool out right now)

What are your thoughts/comments?

Just buy a 1pc because you say you are only going to wear it once, but you know that it will turn into a rabid addiction where the only thing that makes you happy is a track day, and the only thing that makes you sad is the end of a track day.......or wait....that might be me.

But in all seriousness I would buy a 1pc, they offer the most protection, and if you decide not to do that many trackdays you can always sell it and get a good chunk of money back.

Yeah it is nicer to have a 2pc since you can just use the jack and such for street riding, but I am assuming you already have a leather jacket.

defently go for a 2 peice. you ride a gs you dont need to look like a power ranger, plus if the weather gets hot you can use textile pants and not get too hot,
just my opinion but i think they 1 peice suits are G.A.Y.  :icon_mrgreen:

I prefer a 2-piece...I actually prefer THIS 2-piece, to be specific:

This suit is THE BEST dollar/quality value out there...if their sizing was a little better they'd be utterly perfect.

Your whole marriage is a fake.

If I was going to be doing alot of track days or maybe some novice races then I'd go for a 1 pc but if it was only going to be an occasional thing I'd stick with a 2 pc.  That way I could always just wear the jacket when I was just riding around town.

This is just my oppionion, and doesn't relfect the oppionion of this board or it's members.

Besides 1pc's gives you an extra 15hp over 2 pc.

I'd suggest buying the two piece also.  Especially if it's your first track day.  Buy a quality jacket, full leather with shoulder/elbow armour (soft preferably), and with a 360 zipper.  Then buy a mating pair of leather pants.  If you decide your really want to do more track days, you can always invest in a 1-piece, and use the good quality two piece on the street.  And make sure to sort out some good boots and gloves if you haven't already.

Ok well if I'm going to get a 2pc leather suit I need recommendations. It has to be cheap and come in red. Also it needs to be available for local try on (sold at Cycle Gear USA) and able to be shipped to my house by Nov 9.

Any suggestions?  :dunno_white:

lol I don't see how I was making it a fashion show. It just needs to come in red, that's all. I'm not getting a black suit in FL, that would be suicide. So it might as well match my bike. If that makes me a squid then  :flipoff: you

I know you said in your original post that you only intended to use this for track days, but I think you'll eventually wear whatever you buy on the street.  Bright colors and lots of them are a plus for this service.

A good reason to go two piece for street use:  GAS STATION RESTROOMS.

Dragging the top half of my leathers through whatever fluids are on the floor isn't an idea that thrills me.  Well, that and a properly fitted 1-pc is almost impossible to wriggle out of without help, expecially if you're sweaty.

I don't consider wearing the jacket only to be a reason to buy a 2-pc.  Wear it all or don't go riding.   ;)

Unless you have a specific reason for wanting a 1-pc, such as racing or track days every weekend, I think a 2-pc is far more practical.

Those are my thoughts.  What brand, style, etc. I'll leave up to you.   :)
Every zero you add to the tolerance adds a zero to the price.

If the product "fails" will the product liability insurance pay for the "failure" until it turns 18?

Funny thing that no matter how ugly you think your gear or bike is, there always seems to be someone with something uglier.

Nothing wrong with that buy.  :thumb:
