I was really happy to find a GS500 board, I picked up my 1990 with 21,000 km on it last Sunday and am getting the plates tonight to go out for my first ride.

Sure not getting much work done today !

A quick bio on me....  I live in Georgetown Ontario (just north of Toronto by about 20 minutes), used to ride dirt bikes as a teen and have been out of it for about 10 years until I felt I was mature enough to get a street bike.. here I am, all growed up.  ;)

Be seein you around.

Welcome!  I know you will enjoy your bike as much as the rest of us enjoy ours!

God luck on a really fun bike..I predict that you may add a bigger bike at some point, but few of us part with the GS if we don't have to.  Have you taken the MSF course yet.  It's a really good idea.

Welcome to street bikes, there is a really good MSF (motorcycle safety course) in Guelph at the University offered by RTI (Rider training institute)  The even have an '89 GS500 as one of the bikes for the course and the course is pretty cheap compared to others (I paid about $300)  came right off of the insurance which I got through progressive for about $540 a year.  Don't pay any attention to the prices they quote south of the border as we are not nearly that lucky in Ontario.

I highly recomend the course, I also grew up on dirt bikes and have found street bikes have a lot of differences and techniques that the course will point out to you.  Anyways, good luck and maybe well pass eachother on the road some time.
