I'm doing a lot to my bike this winter, but I've had to cut things short & put the GS back together thw past week bacause I am moving in two days... I put on my woodcraft clipons & messed w/ some other stuff too.

So I get most everything back together this afternoon & try to start her up for the first time in like 3 months.

no lights, no startie... no electrical enything....

I'm wondering WTF, going back over all my steps, rechecking the wiring, checking the battery which had been sitting on a tender the whole time with a green light to go...

can't find ANYTHING...

I've been searching on the sute about what to do & came up with a few ideas of other stuff to check....

Here's the real kicker:

I'm sitting in my Calculus 2 class, which I'm aceing, and still retracing my steps. All the sudden I picture my bike sitting in my garage... with the key still in the tail lock where I've kept it the whole time.

So I was trying to start the bike about 10 times without the key even IN the ignition... I think I get it from my dad... :icon_confused:

Done the kill switch thing several times over.

A BMW F650 and a Honda Dominaor I rode were especially nasty in that aspect: On those models the starter will turn, even though the kill switch is on off. Much harder to realise that you are doing something wrong, blaming the bike all the time.

Dude...back away slowly from the bike...

Thats pretty funny...though deffinately something I would do.

this morning I tried putting the key in the ignition, turning it to "ON" and then starting it again. To my suprise it fired right up!  8)
Thanks GSTwins for all your help and support. I could have never done it without you

Come on, people, remember your MSF.  FINE-C.

Fuel - Make sure the petcock is on (doesn't really apply to us)
Ignition - Put the key in the ignition and turn it on  :icon_mrgreen:
Neutral - Make sure the bike is in neutral
Engine - Turn the engine shutoff to on.
Clutch - Pull the clutch it.

Then you can press the button and go ride.  But not before.  :icon_mrgreen:

I had my SNAFU with that as well. After wrenching I forgot to turn the under-tank petcock back on...
