I work for a post house in DC, we do work for all the discovery networks, natgeo, history channel, and others.

Right now i am editing news for Channel One network, which broadcasts a 12 minute news show to high school and middle schools around the country.

we used to watch Channel 1 back when I was in high school.... not to undermine the importance of your work, but next to none of us paid attention, so we ended up having to take tests about what was on each show... I think on Tuesdays...

every day you hear another idiot spouting crap about how great it is, and how "its where the entire industry is going"

I only edit on proper, broadcast editing systems. At our plant we have:

A bunch of Avid Xpress offlines, on a unity system
2 HD avid adrenalines and an Avid Symphony
4 Avid DS'es (1 of them is HD)
2 Quantel eQs
1 Sony Digital Betacam linear suite (which is still the best way to do a LOT of stuff)
and yes, unfortunatly we have one final cut pro system.

we used to have a discreet smoke, but it got old and ended up traded in. That is still my favorite system to work on, hands down.

and channel one has its own dedicated quantel newsbox system, which is a fantastic system for doing news.

Kinda pricey but id say go for it. not like you can go to the store and buy one.
