How do I get those stupid stickers off?

Im tired of riding my new bike with those stupid caution stickers on the fairing and tank?

I tried just picking at them on the fairing but its not coming off before my nail does.  What do you use to remove them?  I have two on the tank and 3 on the black part of the fairing.

I used some degreaser for the tank sticker.  It should work on the fairing stickers too, but don't quote me on it.

It's easier than using heat and such.

I have seen at auto zone a wd40 pen, the end of it is shaped like a highlighter tip, chisel type in a way and the pen is designed to lubricate small areas are to use it like a scraper for stickers.  Might work well, havent tried it though.

and if you don't have a heat gun, you could use a hair dryer.  Heat guns work well... in moderation.

Since nobody has mentioned it yet: The Stickers on the tank are under the clearcoat. You can't get them off without leaving ugly marks on the tank.

As for the fairings: as the others have said: Heat (in moderation) and mild solvents. Remember that the fairing is plastic.

I thought he was refering to the ugly warning stickers.  Those are not under the clearcoat.  But if he's refering to the stripes, then yes...

OK, we don't have those, so I'm not familiar wit them. Anyway, when scratching at the edges you will notice which ones are clearcoted and which ones are not.

Those stickers are put there for your protection.  They are important reminders of things you should consider everytime you ride your bike.  Also there may be some local's where it is illegal to remove such stickers.  I would leave them on.

Best way I found out is useing heat guy / hair dryer.  To remove the residue I used goo be gone or goo off something like that from wal-mart.

They are important reminders of things you should consider everytime you ride your bike, but which you will either ignore or remember to do anyway. Also there may be some local's where it is illegal to remove such stickers. I would leave them on.

The stickers Im talking about are the ones that protect the manufacturer from lawsuits.  They say things like dont put things in between your fairing and handle bars, dont smoke while gasing up.

I dont need huge ugly orange stickers telling me not to be an idiot.  I have a wife for that.

Right the huge orange ones that say things like  "Wear a Helmet",  Yeah those.  Leave em. 


Ok joking over.. 
Use a hairdryer to soften the adhesive and they peel off.  Use goo-gone or wd-40 to dissolve the remaining adhesive.

Sounds good, hair dryer and then clean up the sticky.

Yes and here is a tip.  I used a paper towel with the goo gone and ended up putting some fine scratches into the clear coat.  There is a haze there now under certain light conditions.  Use a 100% piece of cotton to do the rubbing and do it lightly.

I had quite the time getting those off my bike (06 F)... I started pulling them off about 70 hours after I got my bike!

One of the ones on the faring came off without any fuss at all, just got hold of a corner and pulled it off in one piece.  The other ones we way more stubborn.  Used glue and sticker remover and a couple really soft cloths, but the stickers were on well enough that the black sticker that covers the top of the faring went with them in a few small spots so REALLY take your time.  The final three on the faring probably took about 1.5 hours.

Ones on the tank came off without much ado. 

Once they were off I used Eagle Ones NANO wax to clean it all up nice, but Back to Black might work just as well.
