That bike has probably spent most of its life above 12,000 RPM with the front wheel 6' off the ground, just like every other R6.  Don't kid yourself that he didn't abuse it.  A young kid does NOT buy an R6 to baby it.

Look dude...most guys under 25 are hard on equipment.  Most folks over 25 are hard on equipment.


95% of the people that go buy R6s have NO idea about proper maintenance or usage of a motorcycle.  They don't know what is hard on them, and what can seem like abuse but really isn't (dropping the clutch vs. really hard cornering, for example).


Most folks don't come to forums to read up on what all the known faults are of their machinery, and most don't care.  Looking at the tire and bike from what you've shown us, I would say the PO falls into one of these categories.


Maybe he's as anal as some of us are with care and consideration, but I'm not putting any money on it.


PS.  I flog my bike daily once it's up to temp and the tires are warmed.  They are made to be used.  Abuse and neglect are different.  High RPMs are not going to bring a bike to an early death unless it's race duty.  Even then, did you ever see that Cycle World where they pulled a ZX6RR out of every day use, drained the fluids except gas and tried to blow it up?  It wouldn't die!  The exhaust was glowing red, the plastic was melting, but the engine just sat there and screamed at full throttle until they shut it down for fear of destroying the test equipment or they got tired of it, something like that.

I really like the micron too.  That saves me from spending $500 since I was gonna get a new can as a first mod.
