three questions about an exhaust for my bike i have a 2006 gs
1.which exhaust sounds better on the gs500f? the laser or the jardine?
2.what do they sound like i cant find sound clips.
3.which is the better exhaust, performance wise ?

ive found the jardine for arroun 340 retail and the laser for 450 retail in carbon fiber. so both exhausts are on the options list to be purchased.
thanks guys

You probably won't find much difference between either I have the jardine and it sounds nice and meaty but so do most every other one I've heard with just a slip on, the full system sounds a little meatier but you really have to listen for it. I think you would be happy with either one just decide how much you want to spend and which one looks best.
If I were you I would go the Jardine and with the money you save get an airfilter and dyno tune and bang 45hp at the rear wheel better acceleration but no faster up top only gearing and head work will give you a faster top end hope that helps :thumb:

The Jardine sounds good alright!

Nice construction too, with stainless steel pipes, smooth mandrel bends, pipe over cone collector and nice light weight straight through muffler  :thumb:

I think that someone here just did some speed tests after making performance mods on their bike. There was little difference in the top speed after mods (exhaust, jets and air filter) only main difference was increased acceleration and more linear power band i believe. If you get the exhaust it will probably require a rejet and filter maybe.

What im saying is go for which looks nicer or cheaper if i was buying.

Yeah the exhaust does bugger all to top speeds.

I rode the bike with the exhaust and NO rejet and it didn't really make much of a difference in 'seat of the pants' performance.

The exhaust plus rejet will get you better mid range grunt.

Hello everyone.  My husband ordered a Jardine exhaust for my bike as one of my Christmas gifts.  I'm so excited and I can't wait for it to arrive!!!!  I've always hated the "glorified moped" sound from the stock pipe.

Do I really have to re-jet and filter?

Try the exhaust without rejetting. If it runs fine and you're satisfied with performance don't worry about it. Carbs aren't difficult to rejet it just getting them removed from the bike and reinstalling that makes for a little frustration.

No, only if you want to ride your bike without destroying your engine.

The bike is lean from the factory. Freer flowing exhaust will just make it more lean. Lean = hot = burnt valves. Good luck with that. Honestly, if you don't want to rejet, you're better off just turning around and selling the exhaust to someone else.

My attitude is in serious need of readjustment, and I'm ok with that.

And to add a bit further:

See? If you say it enough times, you actually believe it!  :icon_lol:

Actually, re-jetting isn't that big of a deal, so long as you read the instructions well, and can understand some basic terminology.

You don't need to buy a jet kit.  Just got to your local moto shop and order the jet's in the sizes that you want.
I used the faq here and was able to re-jet two bikes in less than an hour.  That was the first time I have ever taken a wrench to a bike.

Very easy.  After I got done I couldn't belive just how easy it was.

F**K, that sucks.  I want to do what's good for my bike and not destroy anything.  What do you suggest I get - jet kit that is?

DYNOJET ARRIVED TODAY!!!!!!!

Why didn't you just buy the jets from the stealership, then burn the extra $20? Would have been quicker.

Haha, good luck with that. Saw the pics of the exhaust, looks nice.
