Just turning onto my street last december, left hander, real slow. I was actually leaving work with my GF following me so i know i wasnt bein and idiot. Took the turn, both tires slid about 2 feet then plopped me. I bounced about 6 times from the case cover digging into the ground rather than sliding (from the slow speed). The left side of the Honda was destroyed, and I ended up riding it the last 8 houses to my place then taking my GF's blazer to the ER, lol. The scariest part was her throwing it in park instead of actually braking, so she was sliding at me while i was on the ground.

ALSO, if you PLAN on going down for some sick reason, make sure your keys are in the opposite pocket, i have a 3" scar from my house key becomming lodged in my left leg/hip from the landing.

:o :o :o Was the ground wet? Or were there leaves? I'm always looking for those conditions in winter...  :o Your poor girlfriend....she must have aged 10 years watching you....  :o

See...full gear is good at any speed. Yeah, I'm bad.  :icon_mrgreen:

Almost 100%, I hadn't worn a sling very long because it just hurt abit but didnt stop me from doing work. The ER missed the break completely on the X-ray and told me it was sprained, so did my personal doc. I finally went to an ortho about 8 weeks later and he caught the semi-healed break at that point. I put off physical therapy until just recently cause of school and work, and it turns out my shoulder blade had winged out because the muscles holding it down had atrophied. Did my physical therapy and graduated with a b+ meaning no surgery to repair the muscle (disconnect it and re-attatch it to a different portion). I guess it was called something along the lines of scapular displasia?sp? but im about 80% now. Probably as good as its gonna get. 2 blows to the left shoulder in my riding career have left my side kinda offset, lol.

Its funny, i sold my street bike, bought a jeep, and 3 months later bought a dirtbike i rode the piss outta. AND I NEVER WRECKED THE DIRT BIKE! WTF!! lol

It was just cold december, with a bit of dew on the ground, and im assuming fresh oil. No one to blame but myself again.

I distinctly remember my GF running up and asking what happened. I told her "Honestly? I fell over, not sure how...but I fell over....". Her response to that was a very irate "You dont just F***ing fall over, ive seen you do WAY more than that, you dont just FALL over...". I remember looking at the left side of my bike and just laughing cause i didnt know what else to do, lol.

I remember your post about that accident. I remembered the broken scapula, but not the torn ligaments and I definitely didn't remember the house key! That's kinda terrifying, I have to admit. I think I'm going to start tossing keys and other sharp objects in my backpack or maybe a jacket pocket.

Sorry i meant Tendons, up near my collar bone. I had a separation that was closing from my very first getoff and it stretched it all even more and tore a bit up. Showed up on an MRI quite a bit later. And the key just sucked, lol. Very odd shaped scar on my left hip, I should bust out the camera.

Glad you're feeling better and healing up well.

Welcome back!

Keys should not be in pants pockets.  Why didn't anybody ask me?
Keys can be kept in jacket pockets, parallel to the body, flat sides (some keys have a side that is 'flatter' than the other) on the inside.
Jagged edges can be up, to spare the pocket, but are advised to be down (I keep mine up).
All keys are arranged so that they are all flat against each other.
Largest on the inside, to the smallest on the outside; makes a smaller 'knot', and disallows all keys from embedding into you.

Or, you can finally figure out what keys you don't need anymore, on your person.

Hope this helps.

Im already anal enough to have them organized on my key ring from my alarm beeper, from largest to smallest, all the ridges pointing in one direction, from the most amount of ridges to the least amount. I just neglected to put them in my pants ridges side away from the fleshy part of my leg, lol.

hey Dan! I just saw Anthony (Mk1incali for the non locals) and he mentioned you. Told me you rode more dirt now. Chatsworth!? You should stop in for coffee at Revive Studios on Valley Circle rd...check my site (commercial section). Its one of my projects, its in Chatsworth and its up and running. Yep, PCH is not too far away from you. Easy to go for a ride in the Santa Monicas from where you are. Just head south on Topanga a bit and right on Mulholland...hell, you could go to the Rustic Canyon market for lunch around the corner from the Rock Store, on Kanan Dume.

Good to see you're still around.

Good to see you, Dan!  Maybe you should post up picks of your dirtbike and jeep (I refuse to look at Myspace)!

Ever thing about getting back into street riding?

Oh, one more thing: I keep my motorcycle key on my key ring and when I am riding, ALL of my keys are hanging from the dash on my bike.  Sure it scratches up the top triple clamp, but who gives a rats ass about that?

Hey D man...you'll soon learn to appreciate all the choices LA gives you.  Either that, or you'll continue to hate it and want to move to Coalinga or Exeter.

Glad to see you are doing fine...congrats on the new job!

exeter sucks. I used to stay at the Kahweah (sp?) motel every April for the Rocky Hill Road Race...used to always be my first bicycle race of the year.

Cool pics. Nice jeep...

topanga/Lassen. I know it well. There's a saturday bicycle ride that starts at that intersection, heads up over santa susana pass into Simi to meet the big group of pro's and wannabe pro's (Its called the Simi ride).  Loops back to Lassen after torturing everyone through hidden hills, potrero rd, mulholland...ugh.

head south to Plummer, turn right and that turns into Valley Circle drive. Revive studio is on the left, past the fire station. There's a stoplight there.
