Motorcycle's are God's greatest creation; turning gas into noise with acceleration & power as side effects

Trwhouse

Hi all,

Well, I only live 30 minutes from Hershey so I plan to join the group for the Saturday ride and get-together, etc. Not sure if I want to do the Hersheypark thing on Sunday, but we'll see.
Like I said, I know some great places to ride -- there are pretty Amish country routes around Lancaster County and there is the most amazing hamburger joint in the state in Shamokin, PA, about two hours north, where they hand make the patties and grill a huge pile of pnions the old-fashioned way. Worth the ride and nice roads, too.
I'm looking forward to meeting you all.
Anyone having trouble finding a place to stay here?
:)

   I'm planning on being there... I don't know if Chris2P is riding there with me or not, or anyone else for that matter... everyone seemed to disappear. I just got my bike registration renewed, now I just have to get my bike inspected before next weekend... typical, lol.

I was at Hershey Park on the 4th of July (until it started pouring rain around 6pm, lol)... they have some really cool roller coasters there!! Storm Runner and the Great Bear are 2 of my favorites... we must go on them!  :thumb:

See you all Saturday. :)

Yeah 3pm should be good. Doesn't really matter what time to me. Chris2P hasn't gotten back to me yet so not sure about his plans.

I'm taking my bike to get inspected tomorrow after work... if it's not raining.

Sorry guys, been busy with vacations and such.  Doesn't look like I'm going to make this one.  Just a bit to far for a day ride, and staying overnight just doesn't work out for the schedule.  Hope you all have a great time though.  I'll be hoping for good weather for you guys.  :thumb:

Hi all,

OK, so what is the plan here?
I just want to be certain about what days we are talking about for each activity. We've been discussing it here on the board for so long I think I'm confused. :)
Is everyone meeting at 3 p.m. Friday at Wal-Mart on Route 30?
Is that when you're talking about having a group dinner and ice cream and get-together?
Or are you talking about everyone meeting for the first time at 3 p.m. on Saturday? If that's the case, will there be time for the 85-mile ride on Saturday?
Sunday, I know the plan is for the group to head to Hersheypark. :)
I just want to be sure we all have the details right! :)

And remember, I live here if you need tools, or help, etc.
Should we e-mail our cell phone numbers to each other so we have them? (Better than posting them on the Web where the world can see them).
Best wishes,
Todd

Hi there,
Honestly, if you want to take a really pretty ride, then let's go through Lancaster County Amish country.
From Wal-Mart on Route 30, we would take Route 340 -- Old Philadelphia Pike -- east to Route 10, where we'd hang a left and go north. We'd wind up that road to northern Lancaster County, and take a left in Morgantown onto Route 23, then hang a right onto Route 322 (lots of Amish and buggies and farms up here). Finally we can turn left and  and head south on Route 222 back to Route 30, then go west on Rt. 30 back to Wal-Mart. There are backroads too, that I can take you all on to avoid 222 if you want.
Anyway, this is very pretty and gives you the flavor of the area.
What do you think?
The weather report here for Saturday is exceptional with lots of sun and temps in the low 80s and low humidity. It should be great.
Are you sure nobody wants to meet here until 3 p.m.? It seems like that's late in the day to me. :)

Yours,
Todd

Hey ya, alll those route sounds good to me, I can only see/view mapquest and google Earth-that's like not really helpful to find a good route, but I wanted to stay in the 50-60mile range b/c my bike is not comfortable then throw in a girl friend that is very clingy and my body just can't take it ontop of the travel to get to Lancaster. Atleast not a sport bike with clip-ons

Everyone is meeting at 3:00 on the rt. 30 Walmart parking lot. This will allow us to check in at the hotels (@2:00) and drop luggage off and avoid the sizzlling heat...I just figured since were not meeting until 3:00 our ride should include dinner:)....Back on page 5 or something the gang was going to do some other things but they never got planned/reserved....so this is Plan B....

Hi Jace et al,
This ride I'm suggesting is easy and relaxing, so I hope it will work for you.
We can stop for dinner when we get to northern Lancaster County or we can head back toward Lancaster and eat.
What are people up for?
A great local diner?
Just my opinion -- local Lancaster County Amish cooking is BLAND. :)  So if you want the all-you-can-eat Amish experience, you should be forewarned. :)
There are other fun things to see and do, and some nice nightspots if we want to go for coffee, or whatever that night.
If you want to e-mail our cellphones to each other, that would be cool so we can better meet up.
Best wishes,
Todd

I think Todd's ride sounds nice, but thats just my 2 cents. :-)

The Walmart at 3pm (Saturday) on Rte. 30 is just off of 222 South right? (I've been down that way before to the outlets and near Dutch Wonderland... is the Walmart near that?)

Chris2P called me tonight and he has to work on Saturday so he won't be making it this time.  So it looks like I'll be meeting you at Walmart with my "gang" of me, myself and I, lol.

I'm not so sure yet if I'll be going to Hershey Park on Sunday though. I only live an hour away so I'm planning on heading home after Saturday's "festivities".

Hey Todd,

Do you have a map of the route you're talking about riding? I'd like to print it out and bring it with me if you have one.

Depending how the early part of Saturday goes for me, maybe I'll meet up with you earliter than 3pm to do a little riding beforehand if you're up for it?
I'll have to let you know though, if you're up for it.

Hi Julie,
The Wal-Mart is not "just off" Route 222 but is about 6 or so minutes EAST.
When you come down Route 222 South you will go straight OVER Route 30 on the overpass and head WEST on Route 30 West.
You'll pass about five exits and take the one for Route 462, also called Lincoln Highway. When you turn off on that ramp, you'll come to a traffic light. Across the road on the other side is Wal-Mart and it's parking lot.
If you stay on Route 30 West and go past a Pep Boys Auto Store and Kmart, then you went just a bit too far.
I'm working on finding a map I can send to you of the Saturday proposed route. :)
I'll post it here too, if I can find something.
I sent you a personal message with my cell phone and told you that an earlier ride on Saturday would be great. Let me know!
Best wishes,
Todd
