Where can I get a new oil pan?

Yea, I found the reason that I got my 04 gs500 for 2000 dollars. The person who owned it before me had stripped the oil pan threads where the drain plug goes and it was sealed with teflon tape... Where can I get a new oil pan?

It looks like it's $33 at flatoutmotorcycles.com (plus a few for a new gasket and shipping).

You may want to looking into a helicoil or drilling out and tapping a bigger hole (which would require a bigger drain plug).  You could probably have a machine shop do this for you for not too much money if you're not up to it yourself.

Thanks, I found a place to get it from. I would get it from the dealership, but I don't feel like paying the special order fee they require (would put the pan up to about 50-60. I would do a helicoil, retap it, or something similar, but it just seems easier to replace the oil pan.

call parts and see if will call saves you the shipping fee. they do that for me at my stealer. then if u order on line, put will call in the additinoal info box.

Time to find a new dealer.  While some may not be as cheap as internet retailers, sometimes the price you pay locally w/ tax will be cheaper than paying for shipping.  Also some dealers will work with you and match prices to internet retailers. 

It's too bad dealers don't carry more parts, because I think they would get a lot more business from people who want parts ASAP.  I have one friend who's favorite line when the dealer says "we don't have that in stock, but we can order it for you!" is "So can I!"

I love that line. Unless the only dealership within 30 miles has a machine to copy a key, in which case you pay 20 bucks to make a (poor quality) copy of a key. If only my stupid PO had managed to NOT bend the shaZam! out of the original key.
