I have holes between the fins on the motor, and was wondering it anyone else had this, or if it was abnormal?  They dont look factory or intentional.  I have an 04 GSF.  Thanks.

Thank you for clearing that up. I was a bit worried.  Is the function of the holes to drain water away from the spark plugs?

No, it's more or less just a cavity where the cylinder studs go through.  You can see the front of the cavities at the bottom front of the cylinder block.
