Finished Rejet

I reek of gasoline, but it's finished.  I went into the dealer to pick up an air filter, and they told me my jets had arrived.  So, I went to the local hardware store and picked up all the wrong length screws.  The guy that worked there told me he'd never heard of E-Z out.  Anyway, went home, started stripping screws, vicing them off, and yanking hoses.  3 hours later, I had 137.5 62.5 main and mids, and 17.5 pilots installed.  I got the wrong type #20 pilots from the dealer.  I threw a lunchbox in there too because it was way RICH.

Results, I am very pleased.  My bike runs exponentially better.  The power delivery seems much more linear, and it doesn't stall out at stop lights anymore.  The lunchbox is loud.  I like the sound of it.  I feel like I'm riding a totally different bike.  I am having some issues with the idle.  It's not falling quickly after blipping the throttle.  I assume it's because it's just so rich.  I need to pull the plugs tomorrow and see how rich we actually are.  So for all of those out there who haven't tackled the Carbs and Rejet, JUST DO IT!  It's fun, and not near as difficult as I thought it'd be.

Good job! I just did my 2001, it was simple and the bike runs great!
If it comes out of your body you shouldn't be afraid to hold it in your hand! :o

Hanging idle USUALLY means a lean condition.. however, you say it's rich, so I can't help there.. check for air leaks in the boots around the carbs?

Hang out there, we may flame, but we don't hate.

My attitude is in serious need of readjustment, and I'm ok with that.

You're right.  Still alittle lean, but not by much.  I pulled the plugs tonight and they were alittle white.  I'm guessing that it's the pilot that's throwing it off.  17.5  Hopefully a 20 will set things straight.

Hey,

My setup is in the .sig, it runs great, but I did have to shim the needles as noted for it to be perfect... until I did that, I had a flat spot at 8,000 rpm. With one shim, it was very subtle, I had to put in 30-40 miles to be sure it was there, but once it was gone there was little doubt.

Based on that, I strongly suspect you're still running lean, not rich. The lunchbox makes a huge difference.

Whatever, the hard part is over. Congratulations.

I'll throw a couple of shims on there when I change out the pilot.  I'm going to go ahead and order some 142.5's.
