I'm gonna do the following soon: K&N clamp-on, aftermarket exhaust, re-jet, change gearing.

I've searched info I could find on pipes.  Questions I still have, maybe y'all can help.  I'm gonna go the el cheapo route of getting a stock can off a bigger bike (eg. r6, gsxr, etc...).  From what I can glean, performance between this and V&H full system, pretty comparable, right?  Also, has anyone yet tried to use one of the new-er 'shorty' cans, like those on the new gsxrs?  Also, could I just remove most or all of the baffling of my stock muffler, to achieve comparable performance enhancements?

Second, a couple of years ago I found a re-jet table someone had either posted here or linked to that I cannot any longer find.  It had several different pipe/filter/jet combos listed, and I could really use that info again, so I don't have to buy 30 different jet sizes and re-do my carbs over and over to find the sweet spot.  At least I'd like to get it close, within a few sizes.

Please feel free to berade me for not finding the info on my own, but I tried!  This (site) is just such a great wealth of info, I can't help but do some brain-pickin.  Also, I do have, and can use, a welder and cutting tools, so some fab work on the exhaust isn't a problem, I just want all the power I can get at the most cost effective route.  Thanks yinz...

If you use stock headers you won't gain any performance increase. You will only change the sound of the exhaust. I've never cracked open a stock exhaust so I'm not sure if you can remove the baffling or not. Some other peeps might know. If I were you I'd just replace the entire exhaust with a full system.

The matrix can be found here.

Good info on exhausts can be found here.

Do not just remove any baffles.....the PO of my bike did that and it sounded so bad it made me second guess my decision to buy this bike!!

Also, removing baffles = less back pressure = burned valves = $$

Hang out there, we may flame, but we don't hate.

My attitude is in serious need of readjustment, and I'm ok with that.
