Ok...I got an Ipod Shuffle for Xmas (from a couple of guys who are among sub-tenants that I manage at work....are they to be adored, or what!!??  :kiss3: :kiss3: :kiss3:). I'm a dorkette when it comes to Ipods.....I loaded all sortsa music on it (about 240 songs), but what else can I do with it? It's tiny and wonderful, and I'm starting to get comfortable enough with riding to maybe start listening to tunes (Gawdess help the world and the people on the road with me  :icon_mrgreen:).... Anyone else have an Ipod Shuffle, and what cool things have you figured out to do with it?  :thumb:

The Shuffle only has 1GB of space, so that limits me somewhat...  :icon_lol:

:icon_rolleyes:.. well back to topic.. I have a shuffle also and really like it, but if your going to ride and listen you'll probably need the kind of earpieces that rap around, the normal ones kept falling out of my ears.  Also if you ride and listen you have to have the music up so loud that other stuff gets drown out really easily.  I thought I would like it but actually didn't.  Guess I like the quiet time, kinda empties out all the hustle and bustle of the day and leaves it behind me.
But the shuffle is pretty neat huh.

best headphones for riding are going to be Shure E2Cs or Etymotic er6is. The er6i can be had on ebay for roughly $80.. the Shures are a good bit more money. Both are isolating sets, they'll lower outside noise by about 10db, so if you ride with them, even without music, you'll enjoy a quieter ride. This also enables you to listen to music at a tolerable level, rather than cranking it just to hear it above outside noise, saving your hearing. They also fit deeper in the ear canal with no protrusions, so they stay in your ears when you're putting the helmet on.

Hang out there, we may flame, but we don't hate.

My attitude is in serious need of readjustment, and I'm ok with that.

+1 on the Etymotic Research Er-6i.  I bought some last month and they're awesome!! Good fidelity and good sound isolation (I rode with earplugs already so I'm used to how they feel).

Another plus -- if you fly they work great at blocking out the jet engine sound.  I keep them in during takeoff and landing (just turn off the mp3 player).  Amazingly good.

My iPod mini just kicked out on me today, harddrive failure exactly one year and one week from when I bought it and the Apple store told me that I would either have to pay $180 for a new HD or just buy a new one.  I almost had a f%$king anurism.  Needless to say, I'm never giving Apple any business again, at least not until they take over the world of computers.
