Personally I would not use them. I want a sticky tire. Heck, I do not even want them for the street.

But.......Some may be fine on them. It depends on your riding. How aggressive are you?
Common sense in not very common.

frye

but if your on the track arent you gonna be aggesive? i wouldnt ride em. but thats me.
perelli speed demons,15t sprocket, full jardine racing exhaust, rejet. COMING SOON-SM bars, maybe a katana rear wheel

I too use something better for the streets, been five years since I had a BT45 on a GS.  It would be better than an Exceda at the track.    ;)

I've done it before and I would do it again...I'm a mediocre racer, though.  If you're running intermediate or advanced times you need something stickier.

They seemed fine to me at the track and I went around the outside of 1 R1 and 2 CBR100RR's with no grip problems although said riders on the sports bikes were usless and  it was only my second track day so I would say if your starting out and there on your GS no probs if your really fast then probably not but then again maybe by that point you should be riding something else. :thumb:

Wouldn't be my first choice, but if I had to, I would.

BT099's were suggested to me.

They're good all weather tyres, I used them on my old GS for 5 years in rain, snow and a bit of sunshine and never fell off. I do ride hard as well. Having said that I've never taken them on a track. The dual compound means they should be OK, I'd definately take them to a wet track day.

I hammered on my BT45s pretty hard, scraping pegs, scraping exhaust, etc.  However, I also lowsided at the end of the day.  But I think that was just me being dumb.  Next time I will be riding sport demons, so I can say if they were better or not.

Its my opinion that BT-45's have limitations just like any other tire.  At some point, they'll be absolute crap and won't stick when you need them to.

Sport Demons, Road Attacks, Lazertec's... all tires are going to have that problem.

Give yourself a No BS assessment of what you think you're going to do on the track.  If you're out for what a trackday is "supposed" to be for (in my opinion), which is explore the limits of yourself and your machine, then you should upgrade the tires.  You want nothing to hold you back and would upgrade the rubber.   If you're going to the track to become more confident and and gain a bit of skills that you could take to the canyon with you, then the BT-45's will probably serve your purpose.  Either way, I will say that I think you should deffinetly show up to the track with a New, or Like New set of tires.  If you show up with a set of tires that have 1/2 their street life left, you'll get 1/2 your trackday out of them.  You show up with new rubber, and you'll get through all of your trackday most likely.

BT39SS are Race Compound tires for Honda NSR50R and Yamaha YSR50 racing applications and only listed in 2 sizes both 10" dia on Bridgestone US site.

BT39 are listed on Bridgestone Japan site in GS500 suitable sizes though.  Not on Bridgestone US site:

they'd probably be OK for your first trackday... but your tire selection will always be in the back of your head.  I definitly wouldnt recommend using them if you've ever ridden on better rubber than those stockers.

You won't find those BT090 at the regular online retail tire places like AMT and Southwest.  Gotta get them at Bridgestone racing tire outlets:
