Original Brand Battery in the GS?

what was the original brand battery in the gs?

also how do you guys feel about DIEHARD batteries in the bikes?

and last but not least are there any sealed batteries  to replace the filler one that is made for the GS.
The DIEHARD battery they had listed was a 10LA2


my battery went by by today , well actually its been going for a little while. now it wont hold any charge. and it left me stuck in a tacobell parking lot. thank God I was right beside a K-Mart that actually sold the battery for the GS. but come to my surprise that didnt help anyways because it wasnt a sealed batter but one you have to fill then charge then use.  so I ended up calling my band mates as they were waiting on me anyways for practice , and they gave me a jump so I could get back to the storage space.

I had to bump start my bike for the first time ever this morning. Thank God I parked on a hill... I'm too short to actually get the GS up to bump start speed without a hill.. I must have looked funny as hell pushing with just one foot trying not to push the bike over, since I can't get both feet on the ground.

it didnt work for me on a flat surface. I tried. I looked even more stupid doing it in the K-mart parking lot. it didnt work .

Haha, you need an incline of some sort, I got the GS up to about 5mph, in 2nd gear, popped the clutch, and hit the starter at the same time. Was actually easy, only had to do it once, thankfully, cuz I didn't wanna have to push it back up the hill and try again.

It takes some practice.  You don't have to go fast, you just need proper technique.

As for sealed batts, you can try the es12bs everstart from wallyworld.  I put one in mine a few months ago, and I haven't had any problems yet.  It mounts in sideways, and you have to extend the cables or get longer ones.

so what kind of technique do you use?  Im use to popping the clutch in straight drive vehicles but ive never got it to work on a bike. basically I get some speed up and release the clutch in first gear and it starts to turn over slightly but not enough to get the bike running. plus it doesnt help when its 15 degrees outside and snowing. cabin fever got the best of me and I just had to ride.

The higher the Gear the Easier they Start. You can Pretty well start a 2 Stroke in first Gear but a Valved Horror Has all of that Extra Junk in the Head to Spin and Open.

I guess I never really thought about it lol. good information for next time my bike dies on me.  do you guys think a bad battery would cause any issue's with the bike running? as in lag ?

Actually you want a decline. 

The GS is nothing to bump start. Try a 1 liter v-twin.

should I toss this old battery or can I fill it back up with acid and try to give it a charge? it would be nice to have around for some odds and ends things.

Toss it.The Main Problem is Sulfied on the plates.You can Buy a Charger that will recondition the Plates but if they are Bad enough it won't help.Adding New Acid is the same thing as Using the Old Acid there won't be any Difference.

Haha, you're right. I should have said "You need to be at the top of an incline"... or something to that effect. The grammar nazi was shot with his own gun.

I remember reading (not sure if it was here or another MC forum) about a guy who tried to kick start a large displacement bike without turning the kill switch on.. it bodily threw him off the bike...

to the dump I go to properly dispose of the Battery at a local govt. licensed drop off location lol.

Bike batteries are like Whores.........its always worth paying that little bit extra

I bought the 60$ diehard battery. seems to be working great for me. im going to do that nifty relay thing or a kill switch like the one guy on here did.  tomorrow it will be warm enough to ride and enjoy.
